The Reich's Fire Rodeo3

A cold morning on the plains of Guerre, but not a quiet one. In the distance, the faint rattling of guns and booms of artillery filled the air. This was the norm of the war world, where battle had to be fought or else the people would be swallowed by the demonic threats of the east.

Several Badger Buggies rumbled by the farm, escorted by a few Jackal Bikes. This may have looked like a normal scouting party to the local farmers, so they ignore it. But in real, this group of vehicles carried one of the greatest leaders of the newly formed Reich, and he was expecting to see a weapon like no other when he arrived.

A few minutes later, and the convoy had arrived at the outer rim of the battlefield, at a massive bunker, with an equally massive hangar door on its armored top. Here, Krieg exited the threaded buggy, and they continued to drive on after his departure. He stepped up to a platoon of soldiers, who immediately saluted the man.

"At ease," Krieg said, and the soldiers' arms went to their sides, "Where is Director Alden? He asked if I may see him here." As he said this, a corporal stepped up to their great leader.

"This way, milord. Alden is making the final preparations on his project. Comms say Grand Inquisitor Mordeci is on route as well and will be here to see the test firing." The man informed, to which Krieg let out a small chuckle. "Excellent!" He exclaimed, "The more, the merrier!" Before following the lower soldier into the bunker.

Mordeci sat patiently in the Donnerbrier transport, waiting for it to arrive at the weapons research facility. He was recently informed that a scientist by the name of Alden Wells had created a new prototype of artillery that heavily outclassed what they currently had. If all went to plan, they would be mass producing the new weapon by the end of the month. With him were two new acolytes.

Omza Thurzk. A trained assassin exiled for his savagery, looking for repemption in a cause he deemed just. He had come to the Inquisition to kill mages, and kill mages he would. His magic detection would be a useful tool for the Inquisition and her followers.

Victor Ludre. A deadly magehunter who earned the nickname Magebane in his time as a police unit. He had a special set of talents geared towards murdering mages. He had left his home believing that simply locking mages down wasn't enough.

En-route in an Intervention dropship above them was the hulking giant, Xa-Rivaki. He was formerly a pacifistic goliath, but he had sensed the greater calling of removing the mages from this galaxy.

The APC sreeched to a halt as its bay doors opened. He stood, stepping out, looking at the research facility. "Come, acolytes. I will show you the true power of the Inquisition." he approached the man waiting for their arrival. "Ah. You must be here to great me. I was looking forward to meeting Mr. Alden himself."

"He's With Grand Inquisitor Krieg currently. I will show you to them."

"Very well. Follow me, acolytes." With that, he followed the man into the base.

Well Ferro was already at the site, she actualy was a head of security there, nothing too Intersting to be honest, but she didn't mind it too much for everything she does furtheres the Gods plan. The facility she was posted in was focused on weapon reaserch which pleased her greatly for even if she didn't smite blasphemers , she did protect those developing weapons which would help their rightsous cause. At this momment she was walking through one of the corridors to see presentation of new cannon

Faction#4PostSubject: Re: The Reich's Fire   The Reich's Fire EmptyThu Apr 20, 2017 3:46 pm

As soon as they entered the great bunker, Director Alden greeted the group, followed by several autonomous workers, their frames painted a sterile white, with red glowing optics. "Greetings Mordeci," Alden said, "The Foundation of War Sciences has  made some tremendous leaps in technological prowess here! Come, and I shall show you!" He stepped into a large lift, letting his machines and Mordeci's posse follow.

The lift continued to lower, until they had come to a truly massive chamber, seemingly going on for miles, filled with all sorts of half-finished prototypes and blueprints. "As you can see, the lead scientists of Guerre have been working non-stop to build better machines to fight the dark arts," Alden explained, before pointing down at a scientist prepping some quadrepedal machines, slightly smaller than the man. "There, my colleague is preparing a batch of Aphid Drones for the cannon and Tyrant presentations. They'll be quite the targets," Alden continued, as a small aircraft, with two rotating, thruster engines, swerved around the lift, "And that is the Vogel, which you will see in the battle presentation."

The lift finally reached the ground, as Krieg appeared to meet his friend. "Mordeci!" He said, "Let us see this cannon that the good doctor has made." Alden coughed to get the others attention, before the lights dimmed around him, a panel which viewed into a well lit room opened behind him, and his robotic workers stepped away.

"My dear men, our enemy is only a few miles away. Every day they grow closer and closer, slaughtering our men in an eternal war. If the Reich is to become strong, then we must defeat the dark arts in our own home. 'But how,' you may ask, 'will we get anywhere near destroying the demons that plague Guerre's plains?' Well, I propose a military campaign that will only last at the most a few days, but will shape the face of Guerre forever," Alden explained, pressing a button on a remote to reveal a large tank with a gargantuan cannon stuck atop it, "And this will be what will change it. Meet the Kanonenhalter, an experimental tank type that will, if my calculations are correct, destroy the demons once and for all IF we can get them close enough." The Scientist pressed a button on an intercom, ordering, "Send in Aphid pack One through Three."

On the other end opposite from the artillery opened a door, where a group of 24 Aphid drones stepped quickly into the middle of the end, their feet clicking on the hard metal. The artillery began to aim. "Whenever you are ready," he told, "I shall fire."

"Ferro," the Director ordered, "Could you and my workers go and prep the Tyrant for the presentation? Make sure it is off before you prep, otherwise it might fire on you." He smiled, as his machines stepped away, off to a curtained-off area.

Omza felt uneasy among the Zodarrin...For months now he has roamed the galaxy seeking purpose and cause he ended up getting into trouble with an group of smugglers who threw him onto Guerre where he encountered the Inquisition,he did not care much for mages and magic and their organization was similar enough to the Imperium for Omza to find comfort in.

Omza would strain an sickly smile with an pale look in his eyes towards the other passengers in the transport, the milky white scales of the former Imperial assassin would be hidden under an makeshift collection of clothing,he looked out to the glass of the transport spotting his reflection causing him to recoil at the sight of his hornless head.

The mark of the Exile was one he had to carry....The memory of his actions still burn in his mind.

The transport stopped and the armoured human figure among the passengers clambered out then called the acolytes to follow him.

Omza got out of the transport and followed the human who called himself Grand Inquisitor.......He was interested in seeing what this Inquisition could muster.

The Reich's Fire Empty
Faction#6PostSubject: Re: The Reich's Fire   The Reich's Fire EmptyFri Apr 21, 2017 7:08 pm

Griz stared at the orders that had come down to him.  As a soldier of the Reich he wasn't supposed to question orders but his had left several questions running through his mind.  He reread the orders yet another time and frowned.  He was used to firing ranges, hell he spent most of his time at ranges of one kind or another.  To be transfered from a highly classified and specialized unit to a range was ridiculous.

A week later he approached the range unsurprised to hear the roar of cannons in the distance.  A range of this size would have all manner of weapons being tested at all times.  An officer greeted him warmly as he approached making him sign in to the range before leading him through a maze of passages.  An open door awaited him and he was quickly ushered in before the door closed behind him.  In the center of the room a single table help a large object covered with a tarp.  The officer stood behind the tarp and did his best impression of a stage show magician whipping the tarp off revealing an object familiar to Griz.  The C.F.G.L Model 7 was an amazing weapon but why was he, and it, here?

The officer grinned at him before filling him on the surprise.  "We've modified it slightly to make it man portable.  Mounting it on a vehicle is a thing of the past.  We forsee those with cybernetic enhancements being able to use this weapon in the field as their primary weapon for years to come.  Hence the reason you are here.  With your familarity with explosives and your enhancements we're going to put it, and you, through a series of tests.  Ready?"

Griz grinned wolfishly as he studied the C.F.G.L Model 7 It was a work of art really.  Heavy for a grenade launcher and bulky but what a weapon.  The fact that it chain fed was an incredible feat allowing for massive ammunition to be linked together for quick dispersal.  The two hundred rounds per minute firing rate meant the dispersal rate could be quick indeed.  As he stared at the weapon he could only think of one question.

"When do we start sir?"

The officer laughed, "Just as soon as you pick it and the ammo crate next to it up."

Xa'rivaki dropped down in front of the door. The standing up straight towering above everyone else. "Hello there, little ones. Is there a dinning hall here? I am rather hungry and did not want to eat your crew members." The giant behemoth said as he followed the others. Xa'rivaki looked down, trying not to accidentally crush someone. He got some very weird looks from everyone since they did not expect such a big creature. "Do you have any prisoner's you need me to get rid off?" The behemoth licked his lips in pure hunger, and trying to keep saliva away, as he thought of the juicy flesh of a mage.

The soldiers said nothing to the giant, only leading him to where the others awaited Mordeci and Krieg's order to fire. Alden clapped, "Oh, so this is the giant I have heard so much about! Hello, my name is Alden Wells, and I am director of the Foundation of War Sciences. I am here to show you how we can destroy the demonic threat on Guerre within a few days," he finished, as Krieg nodded to continue. "Alright then," Alden murmured, before pressing the intercom once again, "FIRE!"

The tank shuttered as the cannon sprang to life, releasing a thick smoke and flame from its gun, as a large shell could be seen arching through the testing room. The Aphid Drones spread themselves slightly out, as the shell was just about to hit them.
The impact shook the room, and a plume of raging fire was shot in all directions. The machines who survived the initial blast were already melting into a mess of slag, scraping their claws against the damaged linoleum in last ditch efforts to flee, but to no avail.

Krieg clapped loudly, "Excellent work, Director! Now then, how quickly can these be put into productio-"

Alden interrupted, "Ahh, Grand Inquisitor, questions can be saved until after the Draken presentation, if you could. Now, let us move on to the Tyrant presentation!" He pulled a walkie-talkie from his hip, and began to turn the knobs. "Hey Ferro," He asked, "Is the Tyrant ready for the show? We finished the Kanonenhalter right now, and we're headed your way."

Griz grinned in anticipation before reaching out to grab hold of the weapon.  He marvled for a moment at just how easy it was to manhandle it now that he had cybernetic arms, it weighed a hundred pounds without any ammuntion.  Making sure that there wasn't a round in the chamber took top priority as soon as he saw it was clear he began testing the ease with which it could be utilized.  The officer with him grinned watching him try it out.

"It won't be as difficult as you're imagining it to be.  Part of your cybernetic enhancements was your left eye, correct?" Without waiting for a reply the officer continued, "With a bit of practice you'll come to realize you have a built in range finder as well as zoom.  Ideal for use with this weapon system.  Recoil as you know is negated for the most part by the heaviness of the design.  We've added a stock to it adding an additional five pounds of weight as well.  Enough talk follow me and we'll get you out on the range."

When Ferro was asked to prep the Tyrant for presentation, she felt honored, for she would be directly working with people creating and maintaining glorious tools of Purge, so she went to do her task immediately, taking with her right people to do the job, job which lasted the entire previous presentation and little bit of time before the start of the mentioned presentation.

Then Krieg had conntacted her to ask if Tyrant was ready to that she had only one response
- Lord Inqusitor, Tyrant is more than ready for the presentation,

The range was roughly what Griz expected it to be long rolling hills extending back four hundred yards filled with live sized pop up targets that would pop up in small clusters.  Given the size of the range and the weapon in his hands there were going to be somewhere between one hundred to one hundred fifty targets to be dealt with.  It made sense as a typical ammo can held fifty rounds linked together.  Two ammo cans meant 100 rounds for one hundred fifty targets very doable.  He raised an eyebrow at the officer who laughed.

"Not impressed I see.  You may have one hundred rounds but we'll be grading you on how many you have left over as well as how many targets you hit.  The pop ups aren't all humanoid either.  There are a variety of vehicles and the round you hit them with will decide if it qualifies as a hit or not."

"Now you have me impressed.  What's it take to qualify?"

"You're about to set the bar.  After that you're going to be here long enough to show us what expert grenadier should look like with this weapon."

"Looking forward to it."

Griz locked and loaded his first belt of ammuntion and gazed out over the range.  Fifty yards out a pop up car appeared, two hundred yards beyond a trio of soldiers popped up, fifty yards to their right a duo of soldiers popped up.

"Son of a bitch!"

Keeping his cool and keeping a count of his rounds was going to be critical he could tell.  He fired a lone grenade at each grouping before sending another individual grenade at the now moving vehicle.  A glance around the range showed one soldier of the group of three still standing and he fired off a lone grenade towards it dispointed as he saw the target fall before the grenade exploded.  The range was going to be a diffficult one indeed.  Forget individual rounds then? He was going to still have to keep tally of the number of rounds as every third round was incenerary not high explosive.

Victor's discipline kept him from showing how he felt - like a child in a toy store, seeing many diverse people sharing and working towards the same goal. Testing new weaponry, assembling prototype vehicles... Needless to say, the bunker's facilities greatly surpassed these of his home Colony's Magic Control Unit Headquarters, and as such, Victor could not wait to put some of these engineering marvels to test, either on training grounds or, better yet, on live targets. And if he were to believe Mordeci, one of the two other people to have arrived with him to see Director, he had yet to witness the true power of the Inquisition. Without a word, he followed Mordeci to see the men whom he presumed to be in charge.

The Director clapped his hands giddily. "Oh, Mordeci, Krieg, you are going to love this!" He smirked, as he grabbed onto a large curtain, pulling it back to reveal a hulking machine, standing on two sturdy legs, and two massive arms on its back, each carrying grand weapons, one an anti-armor cannon, the other an anti-infantry minigun. Behind the arms were a small missile pod, which slowly rose to show itself to the audience Alden was trying to impress. The machine's optics began to whir, as it examined the Grand Inquisitor Mordeci, before attempting to do an action that resembled a formal bow, before backing up several massive steps.

"I present to you the Tyrant. The pinnacle of our military prowess!" Director Alden boasted, "One of these is like an entire army combined into a single unit. It can devastate entire tank battalions as if their armor was made of paper, reduce infantry regiments to nothing, and even bring down aerial combatants with its tracking missiles. And all the while, it will barely be damaged. Allow me to show you."

A large pane of bulletproof glass rose from the floor, as the Tyrant began to stomp towards the designated firing range. Alden pulled his communicator from his coat once again. His voice could be heard over the intercoms throughout the base. "Could we please clear the shooting range for the Tyrant's weapons display presentation? Otherwise, disapproval of orders will not be tolerated."

---POV: Tolin---

Tolin looked around as the intercoms started blaring. They wanted to test the Tyrant, his tyrant. The man stood up, his scraggly blond hair going in every direction. Running, Tolin soon found the director.

"What are you doing!?!? When did I ever say that you could mess with the Tyrant? I still have to hook up the power on its left arm!" He shouted waving his arms around like a madman. Tolin had developed the machine by himself. The rest of the scientists in the facilities thought that he rushed through things and that his methods were questionable. Tolin thought that they were all idiots.

Scoffing at the man, Tolin pulled a coupler out of his pocket and walked towards the Tyrant. Climbing onto the arm of the moving machine, Tolin hooked up the coupler between its left arm and its main body. With the machine's semi-independent AI system online, the Tyrant came to life.

Before it was slowly walking, but now it stood straightened, turned its head around looking, then noticing its previous command the great contraption began to run to the firing range. No one other than Tolin had known about this AI system. No one had asked him about it. As the Tyrant ran, Tolin frantically grabbed onto its arm a crazed smile on his face.

The Reich's Fire Empty
Faction#15PostSubject: Re: The Reich's Fire   The Reich's Fire EmptyMon Apr 24, 2017 6:11 pm

Sweat poured down Griz's face as he switched ammo cans.  The stress the range put you through was unbelievable.  In addition the once insignificant weight of the grenade launcher was starting to build.  He chambered the first round and watched as five targets fell before he could even fire a round.  Normally a crew served weapon it took time for one soldier to reload it.  It should have been something he'd forseen, he hand't.

The next several targets came up and were knocked down.  The groupings of soldiers that popped u were getting somewhat easier to see how far apart each soldier stood from the others.  That knowledge meant knowing how many rounds to send as a HE round was only good for a five yard radius.  There was still the occasional soldier who wouldn't fall though.  Those damned vehicles were another one that was frustrating.  Every so often Griz would lose count of which round he as firing and he'd find a HE round doing nothing to a vehicle.  He wouldn't know until the round exploded often after he'd changed his view to target something else.

As the range wound down he found himself physically and mentally drained.  The last target fell down and the officer in charge congratulated him.  With a few brief words he disappeared into a booth to get an accurate cound of the numbers hit and missed from the man in charge of the range.  Griz was left to count the number of rounds he had remaining.  He eyed the remaining few and shook his head in disgust.  Each one was a target or two that he could have possibly hit.  He counted a total of twelve remaining.

"Well Lt how do you think you shot today?"

"I'm honestly not sure sir."

"We were going to use your first run as the benchmark for qualifying and we still are.  Out of a possible 125 targets you hit 105.  That's a solid 84% hit rate not bad for your first time through the range.  I'm sure with a bit more practice we'll get you up to at least the mid 90% range.  Before we get you firing again though we're going to get you some training on reloading it.  That seems be the area for the greatest improvement."

Griz could only agree.

Mordeci laughed loudly as the Kanonhalter turned the small drones into a heap of scrap and slag. He turned to Alden. "Very good, Mr. Alden. But I am here to see everything you have, not just your Tyrant and the Kanonhalter. I also have a request for a future date- I have plans for a cruiser, over 1000 meters long. Can you do this, Mr. Alden?" he asked as he followed him to the Tyrant's position.

Away from his current location, he could see a man using an automatic grenade launcher, tearing through enemy drones' ranks. He raised an eyebrow, not that anyone could see it under his mask. "Mr. Wells, who is that man, and what weapon is he using? I wasn't aware we were dealing in microexplosives now." he said, genuinely interested.

"And," he started, "My second request is that you either create or dig up a weapon for our oversized friend." he said, chuckling. "Anyways, please, show us your Tyrant." he said and the second scientist came out hanging onto its' arm.

Well Ferro was somewhat confused, workers she brought told her that nothing was wrong with machine but well Dr.Tolin had just did and even though he is quite a madnman, she would still take his words on the matter, but for now she didn't have time for questioning, Tyrant just started running around with one of the main Scientists grabings its arm, if she don't do something then Tolin might die so she started running after Tyrant to at least try to catch up to Mech and make somewhat sure that dear Doctor will not be harmed

Omza watched as the Reich scientests tested out something called an Kanonhalter. It was much to Omza's surprise and rather practical yet effective artillery platform, the engineering and designs of this "Reich" while crude still maintained efficiency that would Omza figured would even interest the bright minds of the Engineering Corps back home.

The pale reptilian would scan the room taking in every detail,he knew the ranking system of this Reich, their weaponry, their leadership. His training in the Assassin's Caste among the other "hands of Kumaktole" trained him well. He was an assassin and saboteur skilled in causing disarray among other nations. He kept most of his skills secret to this Reich who seemed interested in his ability to sense Zodarrin.."magic".

The vigor these humans carried in their cause inspired Omza, and it was then that the robed figure would chuckle... "I must say...This little gathering is quite impressive...But why all this weaponry...Clearly you are preparing for an war." He said unaware of the conflicts taking place on Guerre.

- "Not an ordinary one, either" - Victor said in response to Omza's remark - "From what I have gathered, it is to change the face of the galaxy, and I am most glad to be a part of it."

Having offered the reptilian his hand, the young man added:

- "Victor Ludre, formerly in command of my home Colony's Magic Control Unit. I chose to join The Inquisitorial Reich for I always sought to be the part of something bigger. And, as stated before, I am most glad to have done so."

A smile widened over the young man's face, as he watched the prototype weaponry being put to test. In his anticipation, he could not take his eyes off the hulking mech towering over him, poised to launch its attack.

Alden fumed at the sight of Tollin, "TOLLIN! Did I not tell you to get back to work in the genetics lab? Get the other Tyrant!" A large crane moved the modified machine away, and another moved the normal Tyrant in its place. "Guerre is war, my reptilian friend. Every day we fight hordes of demons that wish only to take our world and eat from our skulls like cereal bowls!" He replied to Ozma, before turning to Mordeci, "Of course I can see that done! Our shipyards grow larger everyday, you know! I have no clue what weapon that man is using, must be one of the other scientists' experiments. Might want to ask him after this presentation. And I'm sure I can whip up something for your gargantuan companion! But for now, let's have a presentation, shall we? Tyrant pilot, fire!"

The Tyrant's weapons began to shift and rev up, as targets lifted off the ground, before being pelted by a rain of lead and fire. A tank rose from the floor, and the Tyrant wasted no time, aiming its massive anti-armor cannon at the unmanned vehicle before firing once, twice into the tank's front, causing it to burst into flames. Several targets fluttered from the ceiling, to which the Tyrant acted to accordingly. A small missile pod rose from the machine's back, and quickly fired several small rockets, which twirled in the air, before slamming into their targets with a firey blast. Alden clapped giddishly, "Wow! I never saw the weapons tests before, but I wish I did now because that was phenomenal! What did you all think?" He asked, as Krieg stood up. "Impressive," The Grand Inquisitor stated, "But I want to hear more about your planned military campaign. What gives you the idea that we would let a scientist conduct such a huge undertaking?" Krieg asked, but Alden shook his head, "No, milord, I would not. But you would after I finish. Now, onto the Cockatrice presentation!" He asked for the group to follow once again to another area, where an odd large tank sat around a bunch of hay bales, freshly cut and rolled.

Mordeci nodded as the Doctor explained Guerre's situation. What he didn't say was what happens when they finished with the demons on Guerre. "Omza, surely you know of the demonic crusade that has only just ended. Of the three dragons who almost destroyed the galaxy with their squabbling. The common denominator in these two events of massive death and destruction is magic. Where magic comes, chaos follows. And where there's chaos, there's a chance for evil to slide itself in. We are preparing for a war to end all evil, and we will need every advantage we can get, from technology, to numbers, to elite forces, and even alliances with larger nations." he said, following Alden.

As the Tyrant tore through the drones, he turned to face Victor. "As you may have guessed, your experience in dealing with mages will be useful in training our troops. Like I was telling our exiled friend, magic will always lead to evil, eventually. It may not be immediate, and it may not be apparent at first. But in my experience, wherever magic appears, pain and misery are soon to follow. We fight not to end lives but to save them. Unfortunately for those born with the ability to use magic, they carry the seed of evil withing, and so they must be purged.. So we fight for the good of the galaxy, however crude our methods may be."

Omza knew of the Demonic crusade that shook this galaxy,he heard it mentioned in the Duchy far too many times before he was exiled. What was interesting to him was the mention of three dragons that almost destroyed the galaxy,in his belief and culture dragons or Drak'ori in ancient tongue where creatures of creation and magic....Creatures that crafted and uplifted their race, while the knowledge of other dragons where not known to the Imperium's Church of the Five the fact that they existed was proof that there was some form of connection.....Something the scholars kept poking about....Something Omza forgot.

He kept his mouth shut about the nobles being able to cast magic....He found the Reich's goal commendable and their methods ruthless enough to feel at home...Is some twisted way he was reminded of the Legion and the scar-faced generals within. He watched as an rather impressive mech tore through drones...Humans impressed Omza quite alot....Sometimes they make things that would take the interest of many an advanced nation.

He shook Victor's hand and awaited further presentation by the his fellow Reichmen.

Griz flexed the "muscels" in his bionic hand it was an odd feeling mentally to grip an object and having to think about how much pressure you were putting on it.  Loading an ammo belt of grenades for instance was a tedious task before his limbs were blown off.  Now, it was even more so.  The last things he wanted, or needed, was to accidentally cause a grenade to explode because he gripped it too hard.  That explained why he was now inside a sealed bunker loading two hundred grenades into belts...alone.

Finished with the labor intensive task Griz grabbed the ammo cans that the rounds belts were loaded into and headed back to the range.  He had been told to expect to spend a good deal of time there.  His shoulders still ached from the previous day but it was always fun to be on a range.  His mind changed when he found out what was going to be expected from him.  "Good morning LT. today we're going through the process of speed loading and you're going to be here practicing until you have it down to under five seconds.  Three would be preferable but we'll have to see how you do.  Now pay attention..."

Griz stared at the man as he began the process of reloading the grenade launcher amazed by the lack of time that it took him.  "Sir, can you slow that down? I'd like to see it in about 1/4 speed once I have it down I'll attempt to speed up."

"You've got all day today and the rest of the week to get it.  We'll open the range back up to you when you've got your reloading skills down."

A very pissed off Griz began the slow process of learning how to increase his reloading time.  At the end of the day mentally fatigued Griz crawled into bed unable to get visions of belts of grenades out of his mind.  He'd managed to get his time down to eight seconds from the twelve that it had been on the range the day before.  It was a start but he had so much work to do and apparently nothing but time.  Damn that grenade launcher.  With that thought he drifted off to sleep.

Xa'rivaki would walk over to a nearby wall to lean up against, but before long he will fall down, go to sleep. He would snore rather loudly though.

Victor nodded along to Mordeci's statement, his stoic expression masking a slight worry he felt. He hoped that he would not be expected to condition the Reich's trainees minds to match the condition of his own - after all, it was thanks to generations of the best local scientists' efforts Victor and his fellow Colonists possess their Gift, still uncommon to most of the humanity. The Gift that shields them from most of the magical effects, working solely on their refusal to believe in magic.

- "I will be most glad to teach the trainees about principles of close quarters combat and guerilla warfare. The individuals in question being 'mages', or whatever they fancy calling themselves, is merely a minor, inconvenient addition to the whole. Truth is, as soon as we all will come to the understanding that their little tricks can affect us only as well as we allow them to, we will strip them of their strongest, if not the sole weapon - the power of nonsense most of the people still believe for some reason."

He turned to the side just in time to witness the towering mech firing its weapons at its targets of different shapes and sizes, wasting them swiftly. This fine exhibition reminded Victor to check the other equipment in the Reich's possession, seeing how much similar - or different - it was to what his Magic Control Unit had.
