• Wand: A simple tool of self defense, good for casting light combat magic and other simple spells, but nowhere near powerful enough to serve its user on the battlefield

Powers
Magic, is a force that binds all life together. It is a single constant throughout a world of the uncertainties. Wizards are those who have the ability to manipulate this force of life either for good, evil, or whatever ends they find just.
However, magic can’t just do anything. It has limits. For one, a wizard must expend energy to cast spells much like an athlete has to expend energy to lift weights and exercise. Once a wizard runs out of energy, he finds it very difficult to manipulate magic. There are ways around this. With the right ingredients and long rituals, any wizard can weave powerful magic, but it is time consuming and oftentimes very expensive to do so.
Also, a wizard can’t simply cast magic out of thin air. Magic might bend the laws of physics, but it can’t just toss them out the window. All magic must have the right ingredients before a wizard can cast magic. Elemental magic is easy since the ingredients are readily available. But powerful magic such as portals and enchanted swords take time, effort, and the right ingredients. For example, if a wizard wanted to create shoes to make him fly, he would need the correct ingredients. Shoes (of course), feathers of an exotic flying bird, sunlight, race car tire rubber, cloud vapor, and a gust of wind. But before a wizard can cast any magic, he must believe wholeheartedly in the magic he is weaving.
Finally, there are some magics that are plain impossible to do under normal circumstances. Chiefly among those is the manipulation of time, which is impossible aside from the creation of a black hole, which is already virtually impossible to create. Anything that completely defies logic and reason is not possible.


History
In his past life, Elias was a wizard living in New York City. not incredibly powerful by any means, but he did have power. Not so much that the lords of the supernatural underworld saw him as a threat, but just enough that no one went around messing with him. He enjoyed his quiet life working two jobs as a librarian at the community library and a bartender, researching the magic whenever he had the spare time. Eventually, people figured out what Elias really was. Though Supernaturals might be legal in the UNSC, they are viewed with a certain level of disgust by other citizens and often go out of their way to make a supernatural’s life difficult, so he jumped on the first transport off world with nothing more than his magical knowledge and travel bag to find a new place to live.
