| Portions of Kitty's skin turned to lava at random, some of the bullets going through flesh and others through lava. Kitty sheathed her sword, instead now idling her hands and vampiric strength to try and pull the box apart now that there was an opening. Corsetta was getting louder in her head, she was running out of time. |

| A group of demons had by now reached the cube as well and instantly attacked the security personnel that were firing at Kitty. The men were caught off guard and most of them perished, with some attempting to fight back in a futile attempt.
As the last security guard hit the floor, the demons began to move towards Kitty, readying balls of fire in their hands. However from behind them, a heavy machine gun targeted the group and cut down their numbers mercilessly. The demons tried to scramble away but were quickly eliminated by the MECH's heavy machine gun. As the pilot made short work of the creatures, it turned its attention on Kitty and readied its missiles before firing all six of them at her direction. |

| "Shit!" Kitty cursed as she saw the oncoming missiles. Quickly her entire body morphed into lava again, and with the impact of the missiles she was splattered on the walls. The splatter didn't move for a couple of moments but then it began to tremble and move. Slowly Kitty reformed as flag and blood, her hand extended towards the mech. A large fire ball shot from her hand towards it. Then she returned to the cube, unsheathing her sword and stabbing at it again. |

| The fireball hit the MECH's energy shielding, doing negligible damage. The massive machine then proceeded to unload a barrage of armour-piercing machine gun rounds at Kitty.
The missile blasts had created a massive hole in the cube now, extensively more than enough for Kitty to fit through. She would have to hurry however, as the MECH was relentless in its attacks. If she were to make it through fast enough, the MECH would subsequently get distracted by a newly arrived group of demons.
Inside, Kitty would see that the cube had a large space inside had a cylindrical platform in the middle. The platform had right above it another cylindrical, metal construction that had massive wires coming off of it that branched out and connected to large, rectangular devices emitting a white glow. The metal plate above the platform seemed to be emitting an energy field down onto the platform, with electricity wildly jumping to and from the two cylindrical constructions. Surrounding the platform were a series of small computer consoles situated three meters away from it. The Arclight Blade was nowhere to be seen.
A dozen security personnel also happened to be inside the cube, each of them armed to the teeth with machine-guns and shotguns. As soon as Kitty entered the cube, they'd stare at her for a few seconds before deciding to open fire at her. |

| Kitty successfully got through to the cube and dived into the hole, landing on the platform and standing up and brushing herself off. She was actually covered in blood yet again, when her wall of blood exploded it was mostly splashed onto her. "Hiya boys." When the security personnel raised their weapons to begin firing Kitty grinned, looking quite psychotic what with a dozen people aiming guns at her while she smiled covered in her own blood.
Kitty threw her hands up, a wall of fire rising up in front of her spitting out heat that was enough to make the men feel like they were roasting. The flames heated the bullets up and partially melted them, screwing with their original trajectory. Then Kitty slammed her hands forward, the fire wall grew to a fatal intensity as it rushed forward and engulfed the security personnel. |

| The personnel went up in flames and dropped into piles of burnt bones and ash. Just as this happened, the section that Kitty had entered the cube through burst open as what was left of the MECH collapsed through it - flaming and damaged beyond repair with scraps of metal either blown off it or twisted out of shape. The MECH collapsed onto the floor, with the Freelancer right on top of it. He hopped off and onto the floor, looking about the room at the piles of ash before moving his gaze to the computer consoles and then the central platform, on top of which Kitty was stood.
"It seems that the objective has been moved elsewhere. However this is in conflict with the potent energy signature that I detected from this cube just as we entered the lab. It must have been recent. Or perhaps the signature was a decoy emitted by the object you are standing on." He looked up at the other metal cylinder that was situated on the glass ceiling, before following each wire attached to it back to its rectangular device on the center of each wall. He then looked over to the computer consoles and walked over to one of them. He placed his metal hand on the screen, which instantly started to glitch intensely as he interfaced with it.
"The sword is still within the room," The Freelancer began as he sifted through the information. "However a failsafe protocol had been enacted upon it as soon as you began to attack the cube. The sword is located six meters below the platform upon which you stand. The platform has an energy shielding covering it which is emitted by the cylindrical transmitter directly above you. The transmitter itself receives its power supply from the four energy cells it is connected to."
He took his hand off the console. "Naturally, we'd have to destroy the energy cells to eliminate the shielding on the platform. However that would trigger the station's self-destruct sequence. We wouldn't have enough time or firepower to retrieve the sword and as such, the mission will result in failure." He placed his hand onto the console again, sifting through more information. |

| "So what do you propose then?" Kitty leaned against one of the walls, cleaning her fingernails with a knife as she briefly glanced up at The Freelancer. "You know, I'm cruious. Why did you become a bounty hunter?" She looked up at him once more, putting her knife away and giving him her full attention. |

| The Freelancer looked at her for a moment before looking back at the screen. "The station's self destruct sequence is initiated when the fail-safe protocol overloads the station's own fusion core. This core is normally prevented from overheating through the use of vents that are connected to the core and lead to the outer vacuum of space. The fail-safe overloads the core by locking these vents down and preventing the core from being cooled. Therefore, if we are able to shut down the station's power, all of these functions shall be rendered inoperable. This can be done in many ways, however we will need to reach the engine room in order to be certain."
The Freelancer took his hand off the screen and walked towards the breach from where they entered the cube. As soon as they exited the cube, they'd be faced with a massive skirmish happening just outside it. It seemed that the majority of the fighting had moved to the center of the room. Demonic forces were large in quantity and the human reinforcements were faltering. The overhead turrets had also been completely destroyed. The Freelancer brought his gun to bear, selected a path and began to blast his way through it. |

| "You go to the engine room, I've got the cube." Kitty called out to The Freelancer, unsheathing her sword as she stood in front of the cube. A demon lunged towards her and within a single swift movement from Kitty it was cut in half, although another demon was quick to take its place. Regardless Kitty fought and killed anything that came her way, although she was beginning to struggle a little with the numbers and partial fighting from both humans and demons. |

| As The Freelancer fought his way to the engine room, more and more demons poured into the cube, threatening to overwhelm Kitty with superior numbers. However their numbers were supplemented partially by the arrival of more Human security forces that were determined to eliminate the invasion.
One particular demon eyed Kitty and stayed away from the fight, moving along the outer edges and only slaughtering any Human that was nearest to him. As she fought on, seemingly distracted with the increasing chaos in the room, the demon raised his forearm in her direction. A pair of blades slid out and then shot forth from his arm, heading straight for Kitty's side. |

| Kitty knew she had to think of something quick, so an idea came to mind that might buy some more time. Killing the closest demon to her, she gave herself a free second and threw her hand out. A bright light emanated from her palm and exploded outwards, it only had a blinding effect instead of a physical one. When the light faded away there was something strange going on. There were six other Kitty's in the fray. Each one stood in the center of a group of demons, sword raised and tensing into a fighting stance. Kitty had narrowly avoided the blades of the other demon, they had whistled through the air an inch away from her.
For a couple seconds the group's of demons looked at each Kitty but then they converged. But as they did so, five of the Kitty's suddenly began to crack. Then they exploded, mirror glass shards propelling outward and into the demons flesh like a frag bomb. Although the sixth Kitty leapt forth, fighting like her life depended on it while also suffering some wounds and injuries. |

| The doors to the engine room blasted open and before the nearest security guards even had time to react, their bodies exploded. Crewmen began to panic and ran amok the engine room as The Freelancer entered and surveyed the area. He quickly scanned the room for any clue as to where he'd be able to access the controls relating to the operation of the station's power supply and soon found it. He walked around the large generator at the center of the large circular shaped room and walked up the ramp to a monitor that was right at the top, facing the generator. He placed his robotic hand on the monitor and accessed the station's power supply. There were a network of main power lines that branched out and directed power to the rest of the station. One such branch lead to the operation of the vent cooling systems. The Freelancer promptly cut off the power to the vents so that they could not be closed off now.
Meanwhile inside the cube, the demonic numbers began to fall again in result of Kitty's glass fragmentation attack. However the demon that had fired his blades at her was unharmed, having climbed up onto one of the energy cells powering the cylinder. As the remaining demons became more and more occupied, the demon say his chance and jumped down, aiming to land on Kitty with his blade aimed at her neck. If she managed to dodge this attack through some means, he'd withdraw a few feet and get into a defensive position. |

| She was able to hear him jumping down behind her and she moved quickly, barely managing to dodge his attack. She was covered from head to toe in blood, some of it being hers and some of it being the blood of demons. Her clothes were ripped up with slash and claw marks, but her eyes were bright with blood lust and the thrill of the fight. Although there was a reddish tinge to them. She gave the demon a grin, twirling her sword around as fire burst from her blood soaked skin. The smell of burning blood was utterly repulsive. "Cmon, give it your best shot. You'll be with your kin soon enough." Kitty struck first, her sword poised to stab him in the chest. Should he dodge she would immediately recalculate to place a slash at his arm then a stab towards his jugular. |

| The demon instead ducked and rolled under Kitty's arm and ended up behind her, before jumping up, spinning and sending a kick into her back. He then landed on both of his feet and straightened himself. "You are long past your expiry date, Youngblood." Lynx said as he took out two small axes that were sheathed on his outer thighs. "Don't worry, I'll try to make your death as slow and as painful as possible." He then readied himself in a fighting stance, waiting for her to strike again. |

| Kitty stumbled forward and turned quickly, there was a thick black streak in her hair. She shot him a smirk, letting out a laugh. "Lynx. I thought you died. It's a pity, because now I have to make your death painful." Slowly she twirled her sword around in her hand, but made no move to attack again. Instead fire began to pulse outward from Kitty's skin in waves, spreading throughout the room and growing in intensity with each pulse. "I don't intend on dying today, I've got a kingdom to run. So make this quick." |

| "Your Kingdom is nothing but a shaky empire built on a foundation of glass. It will shatter soon, and I'll see to it personally that it does.. once I have dealt with you." Lynx threatened before throwing one of the axes at her, aimed right at her neck. At the same time he also ran at her with the other axe, so if she managed to dodge it he'd already be striking his other one at her chest. At the same time, he'd also hold his hand out and through magical means, the axe that he had thrown would fly back into his hand. |

| Effortlessly she caught the axe thrown at her neck by the blade, but released it to focus on Lynx. She raised her sword, grinding her teeth when the force of the impact of their blades moved her back just a bit. She swung her leg out, intending to catch Lynx by the ankle and knock him off his feet. If he managed to evade that she would then aim a punch to his face, then a stab towards his stomach. |

| The leg swipe managed to catch him off-guard, causing him to trip over and land on his back. He maintained his focus however and kept his eye on Kitty's movements. He quickly tucked and rolled backwards and stood up in one swift move before assuming the combat stance again.
"Look at you. The great Kittiana now a dog and slave to a Human-made empire. Humans you can not even trust, seeing how you went so far as to attack their own station to reclaim a trinket. Does it not bother you that these inferior beings have so much power over you now? That they have you chasing energy signatures across the galaxy like a rabid animal?" His voice was full of amusement and malice. |

| Kitty scoffed, rolling her eyes at Lynx as she circled him looking very much like the predator she was. "Oh please, I am no dog nor a slave. I'm here to retrieve what is mine, and then go back to my own empire. Humans hold no power over me, no one holds any power over me." Leaning forward Kitty's eyes changed, the whites turned black and her irises were red as blood with slitted pupils. "There are no strings on me."
Then Kitty moved in lightning quick strikes, one to the abdomen then she spun around him and sent a slash to his back, then her free hand shot down and sent fire spewing from her palm towards the ground at Lynx's feet. Her intention was not to burn him no, she was superheating the floors until they turned molten and warped around Lynx's feet. Then her hand glowed blue, channeling magic into her palm as she shot a few bolts of ice at the molten material to cool it down and cause it to harden. Yet again she raised her sword and aimed a precise slice to his neck. |

| Lynx was quick also, moving one axe down to block her first attack before following her movements around and blocking the second attempt at a slash. What he didn't anticipate however, was for her to spew fire towards his feet with her palms. He smirked at her seemingly pitiful attempt at trying to burn him before he realised that the molten ground was now wrapping around his feet. Before he could react, the ground had hardened and immobilized him.
The following attack nearly caught him off guard and Lynx only just managed to deflect the sword tip aimed at his neck upwards so that it engraved a scar across his forehead. With Kitty's arm raised with the deflection, he threw the other axe into her abdomen before slamming his first one that he used to deflect her attack down onto his feet, freeing himself. Subsequently, he performed a few backflips to put some distance between the two. |

| Kitty let out a hiss when the axe embedded itself into her stomach, but she just ripped it out. Blood poured out onto the floor, but only for a few moments as the wound caused by the axe quickly began to heal. Kitty sheathed her sword momentarily, instead reaching down into her boots and quickly whipping out two white knives in Lynx's direction, although there was a pure energy softly radiating from them. White knives inscribed with holy runes, they weren't exactly angel knives, but they radiated the same pure energy. |

| Lynx deflected one of the white knives with his axe but the other slammed into his lower chest. He let out a yell of pain as it embedded in his armour and somewhat penetrated a bit of his flesh. With a growl, he grabbed the knife and pulled it out, throwing it to the floor. Strangely enough, he felt a bit weak now but he shrugged off the feeling as fatigue from the continuous fighting. He raised his free hand and again, the other axe flew back into it. He then readied himself yet again in a combat stance before the blaring sound of the alarm went off.
"ALERT. STATION COOLING VENTS ARE NOW INOPERABLE. ALL ENGINEERING STAFF ARE TO REPORT TO THE TEAM BASE." And then shortly after... "ALERT. STATION LABORATORY HAS STOPPED RECEIVING POWER. ALL STAFF ARE TO REPORT TO THE TRAM STATION IMMEDIATELY."
Lynx looked up and about before switching his gaze to the cylindrical platform at the center of the room. Strange, the lab's power was offline but somehow, the energy field was still up, protecting the cylinder. Perhaps the platform was some sort of storage space and the Arclight blade was inside it? The only issue was to get through the energy shield.
He looked around and noticed that the energy shield was being projected by another cylindrical construction hanging right above it, which was glowing. The construction had attached to it four large wires that led to four power cells, each located on a different wall of the cube. "So that's where the energy field is getting its power from.." Lynx deduced. Ignoring Kitty's presence now, Lynx threw one of his axes at a power cell. The axe sliced through it and exploded from the released energy before flying back into Lynx's hand, after which he began to aim at another one.
Now that the station had its self destruct sequence disabled by the Freelancer, it was now safe to destroy the power cells to lower the shielding around the storage space that could contain The Arclight Blade. |

| Kitty snarled at Lynx, but the alarm distracted her as well. Kitty knew what the alarms meant and that she had to work fast, thankfully Lynx seemed to be doing her work for her. Summoning a fireball into her hand, she hurled it at the third power cell. She didn't stop to watch it explode before she aimed another fire ball at the fourth power cell. Once that exploded she took off running, throwing another white knife at Lynx for good measure. |

| Lynx's other axe hit the second generator successfully and caused it to explode with the subsequent release of its energy. Seeing the third and fourth power cells explode already, Lynx made a mad dash for the central cylindrical platform but neglected to notice the knife thrown at him. The knife his his shoulder and caused him to yell in pain while also stopping dead in his tracks to pull remove the weapon.
"STOP HER!" He yelled at his subordinate demons. Those that had survived disengaged from combat against what remained of the human security team and also made a mad dash towards the central platform while lobbing balls of energy at her. A few demons nearer to the platform had successfully reached their first and took guard positions, facing and throwing balls of energy straight at her. |

| Kitty was incredibly acrobatic, managing somehow with dexterity and skill to flip roll and duck the balls of energy being lobbed at her as the demons ran to guard positions. "Over my dead body are you getting that sword Lynx!" Kitty then narrowly managed to avoid the energy balls being lobbed at her directly, Corsetta was clawing at the surface and it was taking a lot of what Kitty had to keep her under wraps. But then an energy ball slammed into her shoulder and her control slipped. Instantly there was a burst of black flame from her body that blazed through the room, it's source a figure with pale skin and black hair with blood red eyes. Whatever the black fire touched froze over, pained wails of demons filling the room. Then Corsetta made a choking sound, black ooze dripping from her lips for a moment before the skin turned tan again and her hair was red and her eyes were blue. Kitty felt incredibly drained, the only thing pushing her was that she needed to get the sword first. She ran at Lynx with all her vampiric speed, hand outstretched to grab the sword before he did. |
