Strengths

+ 40 bullets chamber magazines, allowing for longer combat with less reloading!

+ It's specific design makes whole rifle quite small - what opens new storage systems and leaves more space for other rifles.

+ Low recoil makes VIRA quite accurate, while keeping a good effective range.

+ Useable even in Harsh environments.

Weaknesses

- Strange placement of magazine is quite problematic for unskilled soldiers, while even Veterans have quite long reload times in compare to most other rifles.

- It’s Fire Rate is quite slow.

- A bit outdated bullets doesn't make much damage against better armoured targets.


Description

As a standard issue for any soldier in Tower ranks, VIRA is quite good and liked rifle. Every soldier is trained how to use and clean them, even non-combat units have special trainings with this rifle.
Their strange design comes from fact that they are stored in large numbers - and since colonies on Black Garden couldn't afford additional storages just for weapons, technologists from Tower has decided such look.
Of course, it's a second attribute of a Volunteer - next to SEPA Armour, it's also resistant to extreme temperatures that normally would cause most rifles to stop working.

However, VIRA is quite old design. Using bullets that first colonists used, it's not really powerful. Also. It's design cause confusion to new recruits, while magazine changing is quite... Unpleasant due to box placement. At least it doesn't need to be changed after a second of shooting - and to be honest, low Fire rate and Fear of magazine changing cause many soldiers to be somewhat more accurate.

You have probably noticed that actual short for this rifle should be “VIAR”. Yeah, it should, but name VIRA - according most common Volunteer argument  - “Sounds nicer”.
