Concept of landscape:

"Nothing but bogs and swamps" said one of the legionnaires as the dropship shot across the landscape.Another survey mission scanning the planet and searching for any of the lost frigates.It has become routine for the team Alpha 4 of the 77th Legion,they have been doing nothing but recon work for 8 months and the squad has lost their taste for it.

Kaiyan was alongside them,he did not mind seeing the rest of the galaxy.He found comfort in calmness of the flight,closing his eyes to focus on the sound of the dropship engines.The persistent hum with the speed they were flying gave him a sort of self-therapy.Making sure to hold the buckle bolted to the roof tight  and ensuring his power armor has it's magnetic locks activated on the greaves.Most outsiders would think the dropship was a deathtrap.....It was probably one of the safest dropships you could find in the galaxy.

"Nearing Sector NE-31 remain on standby" the armor's communicator would say as the pilot nears the drop site.Kaiyan looked around to watch his fellow legionnaires clad in their silvery steel power armor. "What is your plans Gro'mok when we get back to the ship?" one of them asked.

"Maybe a good leg of Omerax and a Li'ti Cocktail would be nice" he laughed. "Maybe watch some of the Isonade pups fight and place a few bets it depends" he continued. "And what about you Ra.......Wait what's that"

A bright light appeared starboard of the dropship,it became smaller and smaller but followed the ship,it was too late when they realized what it was....... "INCOMING PROJECTILE"

The rocket blasted the rear of the ship,and whilst the impact shield did absorb most of the damage,the resulting shock caused the left engine to fail and the ship tumbled down to the earth........

"Brace for imp......" the cries were shattered by the resulting crash and Kaiyan was thrown from the force.

"Kumakatole guide the spirits of the fallen to eternal rest,may they never be found wanting and may they be reunited with those they lost" as soon as his prayer was finished his senses was overrun with pain as he was hit with a stun round.It administered a non-lethal shock that caused him to fall to into the marshy mud unconscious.

Three cloaked humans appeared and smiled with glee as they jumped with excitement from their catch. "Ol Denver is going to love this" one said in a old southerner accent as they tied the Varanus with rope and loaded him aboard an rusted hovercraft. "Ja think the lil Johnny would convince his brother to give us a reward?" One asked studdering at certain intervals.

"I don't kno...Hey this beast is still awake!" The humans noticed Kaiyan's shred of consciousness as he struggled to keep his eyes open,he uttered an weak hiss as the one human bashed him with an electrocuted rod.Finally knocking the Varanus out cold.

Kaiyan awoke in a dusty metallic cell,his clawed hands were bound behind his back.He struggled to get to his feet but once he did laughter could be heard outside the cell.Kaiyan shrugged and took an seat on what he assumed was an bed,an bed consisting of nothing more then straw and some torn fabric.

His canines grinned as a human entered the cell holding some kind of pistol towards him. "You awake eh?" He motioned to the door which stood wide open. "Right let's go see Ol Denver and don't try anything funny a'right."

Reluctantly Kaiyan followed his demands and the strange mammalian creature led him through a rusted and run-down hallway,he saw a glimpse of the marshes through a window he passed and figured he was in some building or docked ship.He stopped at an door that slid open to reveal an bridge manned by several brutish and filthy human crew-members.One however stood out from the crowd,he stood with his hands behind his back watching the crew with keen eyes.As Kaiyan approached him he turned,his bearded face carried experience and he grinned with a small smile.

"Well well,what you got here Chris boy.Is this the survivor you spoke of?"

"Yeah it is boss" he replied hastily.

"Well I don't recognize your species,and there is no local reptilian race on this planet.Who are you?"

Kaiyan lifted his shoulders and gazed with slitted eyes at the old man. "I am Kaiyan Vivar of the Serpentum Imperium,your attack on the legion has been noted and if you release me the court might show mercy." He stood grinning waiting for the old man's response.

He burst into laughter."Well aren't you an special snowflake,no you will remain my prisoner until we can find a use for you.I'm sure your "Imperium" would offer a fine ransom for your return." He turned back towards the crew.

"Throw him back into the brig."

The human started to lead Kaiyan back to his cell,they kept a relatively slow pace and Kaiyan's mind flooded with ideas on how to escape.They neared the window from earlier and that is when Kaiyan saw an opportunity.He walked a bit further from his captor and looked towards the glass.He smiled as he was able to see both his and his captor's reflection on the glass.

Using the reflection he determined the distance between him and his captor,he then swung his tail hard at the hand holding the pistol,it fell without a shot and took his captor by surprise. "Oi wh..."

Kaiyan turned and bit into his neck,his canines piercing deep into the arteries causing a stream of blood to coat his mouth as his captor fell to the ground chocking on the blood that filled his mouth.Kaiyan then used his horned head to break the glass window and began to cut the rope that bound his hands together using the shattered glass stuck in the edges of the window.With his clawed hands free,the dark green Varanus picked up the pistol and familiarized himself with it.It was small in his clawed hands..... "Arrgh petty weaponry." Kaiyan thought.

After hiding the body behind a loose panel he began walking towards a locked door where the hum of an engine could be heard.

Placing his back against the steel wall,Kaiyan felt the cold metal slightly shaking from whatever engine was inside.He prepared his pistol,he had to be quick for he was stripped of his armour and still recovering from his wound earlier.He pushed the door open and spotted a man working on a ancient and dirty looking engine.He appeared to be maintaining it whilst it was activated.Black smoke filled the air,smoke that made Kaiyan cough as it burned his lungs.

He crouched to avoid the smoke clouds and used the deafening sound to mask his footsteps.The mechanic never saw it coming as Kaiyan gripped him in a sleeper hold.The mechanic's petty resistance soon stopped and as Kaiyan released him he fell to the ground hard,cracking the goggles he wore. "I need to lure the scum out into an ambush,that should improve my chances of contacting the Imperium." Kaiyan thought.

He searched the mess of an workshop,gathering flammable chemicals he was able to fashion into a crude explosive.He threw it next to the engine and ran to the door,as he reached the door he took aim and fired on the can of chemicals setting it ablaze.He then ran back towards his cell hoping to find some of his gear before the crew notices the inferno that was their engine room.

He ran past his cell and found a table with some of his gear,considering he was stripped clean except for the lower half of his power-armour he would need to use the sparse cover of the rusted hallways.He took what he could from the table,which only an legionary gladius and an M-2 rail-rifle which unfortunately would be ineffective in this environment.

Kaiyan's legion training kicked in,he would have to use his melee prowess in order to cut his way out of this mess.He unsheathed the gladius which glowed with heated energy as he turned back in the direction his captor took him.He cautiously approached the door to the control room,avoiding the large group of pirates sent to extinguish the generator fire,hiding behind corners and staying out of sight.Waiting 9 seconds before moving further..... {WIP}
