Name: Plasma Carbine
Owner: Xytan (or whoever else manages to get their hands on it)
Creator: Unknown.
Development Thread: N/A
Type: Carbine
Ammo: Red Plasma
Rarity: Rare
Strengths:
The weapon has a high rate of fire which makes it ideal for taking down more heavily protected troops with sustained fire.
The weapon uses plasma as ammunition, which has a high temperature. As such, the weapon is extremely deadly against unarmored or lightly armoured targets.
The heated nature of plasma bolts makes the weapon quite effective against energy shielding.
The weapon is very light, weighing only 10kg. This is ideal for missions where constant mobility is essential.
Weaknesses:
Due to the fact that the weapon fires plasma bolts, it is susceptible to overheating if it is fired for prolonged periods of time. Typically, the weapon overheats after 10 seconds of sustained fire, at which point venting ports open up on either side of the carbine to dump waste heat. This dumping process can take up to 5 seconds before the weapon can be used again.
The weapon is effective as close to medium ranges. At long ranges, the gravity of whatever planet the user may be standing on would effect the projectile and cause a bullet-dropping effect to occur, making it inaccurate or rather, unreliable at long ranges.
Description:
The Plasma Carbine is a weapon of unknown origin that was, through some means, procured by Xytan AKA the Freelancer on one of his many missions as a bounty hunter and mercenary. The carbine fires concentrated bolts of red plasma at 400 bolts per minute with a velocity of 150 meters a second. It is most effective at medium ranges but may still be useful at long range depending if the user has the adequate knowledge of how much the planet's gravity affects the bolts' drop rate. The weapon is fully automatic and its high ROF, combined with its ammunition type, makes it very effective against unarmored or lightly armoured targets. Sustained fire can also make it effective against targets with energy shielding more heavy armour.
The Plasma Carbine operates on a plasma battery pack that can be recharged, should the user possess the means to do so.
