Strengths:The armour is made of a titanium alloy. It is resistant against small-arms fire and very light.
A network of micro-motors routed underneath the titanium layer connect directly to the marine's neural lace through the use of a neural-interfacing device located on the suit's name. This neural interface translates electrical signals from the brain and uses this to transform the user's thoughts into motion. As such, when the user lifts their arm for example, the suit moves the armour with them which virtually enables them to move freely without feeling the weight of the armour.
A refractive coating covering the entire titanium alloy layer enables the armour to disperse heat-based weaponry.
The skin-suit worn underneath the titanium layer contains a filling of hydrostatic gel that, among other functions, serves as a cushion for incoming projectiles - a last resort should the titanium layer be breached.
Weaknesses:The armour is unshielded. Sustained fire even from small arms weaponry is guaranteed to breach it though the time it takes to effectively puncture the armour depends on how powerful the weapon is. The gel layer is weaker than the titanium layer and will take fewer shots to bypass.
Despite having a refractive coating to disperse heat-based weaponry, the armour can only take so much. Plasma weaponry is very effective at melting through the coating within a few shots and consequentially, the titanium layer with a few more. Typically, the gel layer would not put up much resistance against the plasma.
Description:The Colonial Marine's BA is a full-body armoured uniform worn by all Colonial Marines serving under by GSU during engagements. The armour features different layers, though not as many as more advanced types such as MJOLNIR or LEGIONNAIRE. These are explored in depth below:
Skin-suit: This is the first layer of the body armour. The skin-suit is composed of synthetic fibres specifically designed to grant the user comfort and reduce skin irritation while wearing the armour. The suit has a filling of hydrostatic gel that is connected to the armour's helmet. The gel layer regulates temperature and shapes the armour around the user, depending on the marine's shape or size. The gel also acts as a cushion for enemy fire, possessing the limited ability to stop bullets until it too, would be breached.
Micro-Motors: Routed throughout the suit, resting just underneath the titanium alloy plating are numerous micro-motors. These small machines connect to the user's brain via their neural lace and translates their thoughts into movement. If the user chose to lift their arm, the micro-motors would do the same with the suit simultaneously. As such, the user would not feel the weight of the suit on them, giving them the advantage of mobility.
Titanium Alloy plating: This is the second and outermost layer of the body armour. It is composed of titanium alloy designed to be very light and very strong. It is able to deflect small-arms fire for periods depending on how powerful the weapon is. The thickness of the plating differs on what area is being protected. For example, the chest area would feature thickest plating. The armour is covered by a layer of refractive coating that is able to disperse heat-based weaponry to a very limited extent.
