Ven lay quietly in an cold, damp, and dimly lit stone room. He had almost lost track of how long he'd been stuck here. He had traveled deep into Rift space to visit his younger sister and convince her to stop the raids her forces had been conducting on the rest of the galaxy. Unfortunately for him, he was quickly accused of high treason and arrested by the Keth palace's royal guards. For any normal person, high treason meant a death sentence, but not for Ven. No matter his crime, Ven was still the Queen's brother, and because of that, she spared his life. Although when looking back on it, leaving him to rot in a cell may have been a fate worse than death for an immortal being.

Beth had changed over the past year or two. The Queen of the Rift had become, cold, calculating...Some may have said insane. Recently, Rift forces had began conducting small scale raids upon the galaxy in which many innocent people had been killed for seemingly no reason. Eventually, Ven grew tired of this and decided to confront his sister about everything that had been going on. Unfortunately for him, that hadn't ended the way he'd hoped.

Ven lay on a cold, hard bed made of stone. He hadn't moved in almost an hour as he contemplated how he had ended up in this situation. His sister had gone seemingly insane, he was nothing more than a lowly prisoner and to make things worse, nobody knew where he was. If he wanted to escape, he would have to manage it alone. The immortal smirked for a moment, not even speaking a word. He had grown tired of being a prisoner. It was time to begin planning a break out.

Ven's cell was almost completely bare, the only things inside being his bed and a table with a small lantern on it. Clearly there was nothing he could use inside the room to escape. On the wall above him, Ven could see a small hole filled with newly-installed steel bars. The immortal shifted himself to rest his head on his arms, the chains around his wrist rattling as they moved with him.

For the most part, the Rift did not need to use restraints on prisoners once they had been contained in a prison cell. Ven was different however. He had supernatural abilities that needed to be dealt with in order to keep him contained. These restraints nullified all forms of abilities, leaving Ven as nothing more than a Human would wouldn't age. At this rate, he would be trapped in his cell forever.

I can't believe I'm trying this... Ven thought to himself. A moment passed and the man lay on the ground clutching his stomach. It had not been long since he had eaten and the guard was scheduled to walk past his cell. Now would be the perfect time to fake sickness so that the guard would be forced to open the cell and escort Ven to the nearest medic.

Slowly, the noise of footsteps started to become louder and louder. Right on cue Ven thought to himself, smirking as he put his plan into action. Ven started calling out, a feigned sense of pain in his voice. "Guard...Guard!" He moaned, desperate to get the soldier's attention. Initially the man ignored his pleas, causing Ven to step up his game. Quickly, Ven forced himself to throw up. This got the guard's attention, fooling him into thinking that Ven actually needed medical attention.
"Are you okay?" The man asked as he unlocked the cell door. Little did he know, that would be his last mistake.

Hearing the door open, Ven flung into action. With no weapon or abilities and with restrained hands, Ven allowed his feral and predatory instincts to kick in. Without second thought, he launched himself at the guard, pinning him hard against the wall as he viciously used his razor sharp canines to rip the man's throat apart. He bled out within seconds, his body falling quickly to the floor as Ven stole his keys, freeing himself from his restraints.

It wouldn't be long before the entire palace was on high alert. If he was going to escape, he needed to do it now.
