Bloodlines-Chapter 2: An bright future. Empty

Footsteps ran across the metallic floors of the Citadel, the room empty save for the embroideries of banners, paintings and sculptures that decorated the royal chamber hallways providing the only life to an otherwise lifeless hallway.

As the footsteps grew closer the bulky yet thin frame of the winged Emperor could be seen alongside two guards clad in golden armours carrying their symbolic Vanaksite spears, the guards would remain watchful over their monarch not only because of their role in his defense but also being the few to know that his majesty's health is declining.Emperor Sagess envisioned, built and ruled the Imperium since their rise from the ashes of the old confederacy....That was well over 357 years ago making Sagess one of the oldest Varanidae still living, while the Emperor seemed in good health being able to function and complete his duties as Emperor without much problems those who look close enough could see him suffer, his body unable to endure the same pain as he did when he first built the empire.

Kar'zo one of the guards escorting him imagined how devastating it must be to have built an empire only to have it torn down and rebuilt again, take in account that the Varanus and their fellow Sigman races lost their homes, some their families...All left behind in the chaos that was the known as the "Rebound era" an time where the destruction caused by the Sigma Wars caught up with the remaining powers, while Kar'zo was not born during that time he kept hearing stories from the elders....Of how civilization fell, order faltered and the Imperium was forced to provide solutions to keep unrest from disrupting the only plan they had of an future...And even still after escaping doom and rebuilding for 50 years the Imperium still failed.....

The Arch-4 Wormhole generator lost, the only hope of establishing an connection between the Milky Way and the Sigma Draconus galaxies ripped away by the anomaly that caused the ark's wormhole cascade, the burden of that failure fell to the court...and most notably the Emperor.

To look back on the new city and it's people to only be reminded time and time again of Old Serpentum and the people left behind.

The Emperor continued walking across the metallic floors towards an large arched doorway, which opened as he approached them. The metallic floors were replaced with silvery marble and the room was lit by massive frosted windows the large open hall was spotless much in contrast to how it looked like 50 years ago.

The Emperor breathed and began to walk towards the Terrasque throne, the chair was raised upon an wide dais with 3 steps, the chair itself was made of the same silvery marble as the flooring with soft silks of deep purple with golden sigils signifying the property of the Imperial Monarch, built into the throne was an small computing system that was connected to the Imperial Administration Network allowing the Emperor to monitor the progress and happenings in the Imperium. The Emperor would sit upon the throne sighing in comfort as he allowed his legs to rest. He looked to his guards who kept on attention in their golden armour,he chuckled and with an smile dismissed any notion that he needed anything from the guards who bowed and took positions opposite the dais and doorways.

The emperor would then tap his sceptre once indicating that he was ready for the Court.
