Munlanam, aka Soul Forging, is one of the earliest forms of life manipulation that the Dryads developed. It requires the participant to have a fully developed soul. The process fuses the creature's soul with some sort of material.

The material is chosen by the Dryad themself. They will choose that which they are attracted to. The two materials are a piece of metal and a seed. The Adhmad and mages of the Dryads will always choose the seed, while the Miotal and the soldiers will always choose the metal. The process is not hereditary. Two of the Miotal might have child who grows up and becomes an Adhmad, and vise-versa.

The Feach are the ones who administer the process. They are the seers of the Dryads, the ones capable of witnessing another's soul. The process is long, sometimes taking months to complete.

Adhmad -
For the Adhmad, their seed will shift and become encompassed by their soul. It will change to resemble a creature that is the physical form of their soul. The most common are typically small animals, but sometimes a larger, or exceptionally unique creature will form. The Adhmad are bound to their familiars, able to experience the world through them.

Mages -
A mage's seed will first burst into the element that calls out to the mage. This is the element that the mage's magic is strongest with. Then, the element's aura will bind with the mage's soul, drawing it out. The combination of soul and element results in the creation of the mage's medium. They are typically some sort of elemental familiar that stays with the mage always.

Miotal -
The Miotal are much like the Adhmad. Except they use a piece of metal ore instead of a seed. The ore, in contact with their Dryad, will shift, slowly at first, as the metal leaves the stone that encases it. Then, once the metal is freed, it will conform along the Miotal's soul, creating their familiar. A Miotal's familiar is a type of Golem, resembling anything from a small insect to a 7 foot tall giant. Like the Adhmad, the Miotal are able to experience the world through their familiars.

Soldiers -
A soldier's Soul Forging is far different from the others. They start off in the same way as the Miotal, but their ore will fail to form a shape after the metal leaves the stone. They will be left with nothing but a hunk of metal. They require a second step. The soldiers of the Dryads truly forge their souls. They create whatever it is that their souls call out for. Imparting themselves into their creation, a Dryadic Soldier forges their soul into a blade, bow, or shield.

All familiars and the weapons of the Soldiers are referred to as Anam, or 'Soul.' A Dryad cannot be separated from their Anam, otherwise they will fade away, having lost their souls. Even during the war this was considered a horrendous act. If a Dryad ever took the Anam of another, they were hunted down by both sides. It was the greatest of crimes against their race.

Feach -
The Feach are determined when a Dryad's souls does not bond with anything. Their souls are then unable to return to their original place. Thus a Feach's soul is permanently outside of themselves, forming a misty smoke that accompany them. They are reverred by the Dryads for their ability to witness the soul of a Sa Bhroinn. They are the guardians of the Sa Bhroinn, continuously watching over them.

Sa Bhroinn -
The Sa Bhroinn are Dryads that have not gone through the Munlanam. A Dryad must first grow to adulthood before their soul is mature enough to go through the process. The Sa Bhroinn are looked after by all Dryads, as they are seen as the races children. A Dryad will typically be a Sa Bhroinn until their twentieth birthday, at which point they will undergo the Munlanam.
