Albert quikcly points gun in direction of Flickr monstrosity, then also very quickly he pulled the trigger many times, filling monster with lead and killing it in the process, yet that didn't saved Gas-Boy from being stabed since body of now dead monster didn't exactly loose any momentum and so it still flew into Private Wilecki, and stabed him in the gut
- GAH SHIT - He screamed

Fitzgerald saw an opening and pushed the dead Flickr off of Wilecki picking up his wounded comrade and throwing his one arm around his neck as they both ran into the trenchline.

"We need to get back to the fortress gate,the trenchline is lost....Oh God...."

Fitzgerald saw what laid before them in the trenchline,hundreds of dead bodies of DKS and Flickr soldiers,the smell of blood and acid filled the air which made the unmasked Fitzgerald grin and puke only to begin moving again as they walked across the limp soft bodies of the dead.Fitzgerald will stop in his tracks throwing Wilecki into the pile of dead telling him to stay still as he ran into the crossroads of the trenchline. "OI OVER HERE!" he would yell to the Flickr troops guarding the crossroads before running into one of the other trenches leading the Flickr away and opening the way for Wilecki to the fortress gates.Several Flickr troops scurried past Wilecki confusing him as being dead as they pursued Fitzgerald.

Wilecki seeing this opening started crawling in direction of fortress, slowly but surely he closed the gap between him and the gate, making sure to stop when he heard movemant. Soon he found himself at the base of the gate and then he started knocking at it, not too hard so he wouldn't attract any attention from enemy.

The 10-meter steel gate slowly creaked open enough for Wilecki to slip through.

Inside he would find most of the DKS garrison rushing about to defend the fortress from the Flickr forces,fortified machinegun emplacements were quickly being set up to cover the large concrete entrance to the bunker-city beneath the fort.

One of the officers who Wilecki recognized as Major Hensworth approached the wounded "Gas-boy" calling for an medic....After the fourth call an medic arrived his uniform coated in blood as he helped Wilecki to the field hospital the Major followed as he asked questions.

"What happened Soldier!....Where is the rest of the front guard?"

- Dead ,I think...... Fitzgerald had took their anttetion saved my ass,  I am sorry sir, we fucked...... up eh I think I will take ....... a .......... nap
Then Gas-boy lost his counciesnes, he was still alive but blood lost knocked him out

Major Hensworth shook his head.

"Take the lad to the field hospital now!"

The Major then rushed towards the frontline...He knew they had to fortify the battlements of the castle-like fortress....If it fell the Flickr would slaughter the people in the bunker beneath them.Rows of machineguns and riflemen took positions on the walls and pletora of various weapons of the DKS fired their bullets in chaotic fury towards the sea of Flickr swarming below in the fields and trenches.

The medic stabilized "gas-boy" who he placed on an camping bed coated in bloodstains from the hundreds who used it before him.

Fitzgerald ran....at some point he dropped his rifle when he tripped earlier....He had little to think about he just ran..thoughts fixed on survival while allowing Wilencki time to reach the fortress.The Flickr force on his heels doubled in size as the drew ever closer towards the sprinting DKS conscript.They would fire short bursts of LMG fire missing each time until one hit Fitzgerald at the back of his foot causing him to fall into an ditch with several mutilated corpses of other fallen DKS soldiers.

While Gas-Boy was laying somewhat safeliy, in Fortress, there were soldiers dispatched to deal with this problem, a specilize unit designed to clean trenches out of any filth that got in, armed with flamethrowers, and rifles with shortened barrles, one of such soldiers was Adam Kowalski who was curently scorching a unit of Flickr with Hell Sprayer, while also walking on on corpses of his comrades, he would have puked if it wasn't for the fact, that seeing and walking on a dead body wasn't that much shocking anymore but still it was far from typical day at the front probably a result of someone leting their guard down, well now he and his teammates have to deal with it. So he moved forward burning any Flickr that got in his path while his mates where dealing with anything that would sneak up on them from behind, they were like scalpel in hands of very good surgeon, quick and efcient, of course they weren't the only ones, there were more like them, especialy trained for this soldiers who were trench sweapers.

The Flickr surrounded Fitzgerald,without delay one branded it's knife towards him and cut deep into his leg.Fitzgerald's screams drew some of the trench sweepers towards his aid.

The Flickr would screech at the sight of the flames and fall to the rifles of the trained trench sweepers.Then the War AI ordered their retreat,it has completed it's primary objective....Distracting and weakening the DKS front.While another threat loomed deep beneath the earth.

All was falling into place for the war AI,these humans fought an ultimately futile war.The Flickr took an full retreat as the remaining soldiers would drone their way back into the mists of the field.The DKS totally unaware of the danger that would soon befall them.

Fitzgerald was badly wounded,the Flickr soldier cut it's knife up and down his leg...He would peek only to see bone and flesh in an pool of blood.The pain was beyond anything Fitzgerald had felt before.....He could feel his entire leg yet also he couldn't it was hard......Under immense shock he would rest his head to the ground between the mutilated corpses and gaze towards the sky....What he saw in the distance shocked him as much as his wound.

It was an ship....Far in the distance it appeared like an black speck hidden between the dark clouds of Sabaton. And without warning the ship disappeared.

Fitzgerald was confused and tired.....He closed his eyes....and drifted into eternal sleep.

Unbeknownst to the DKS and the Flickr another power was made aware of the situation....An old enemy of the Flickr Hive and the ones responsible for the crashed ship on the planet....

Their foe from Sigma Draconus...The Varanus.

The true battle of Sabaton was soon to begin.
