Out of all races found on Nirn, the Altmer have the strongest natural connection to magic. This allows them to control more powerful magic that many other races likely couldn't handle.
Their craving for knowledge also makes many of the Altmer some of the best scholars in all of Nirn.

Due to their affinity for and connection to magic, the Altmer are weak against it. This is because being hit by magic overloads the amount of magic already in their bodies.

Altmer culture thrives around knowledge and magic and as such, very few High Elves choose a path outside that of a mage or scholar, even those that choose to become warriors tend to do so through magical means such as destruction magic, or conjuring up bound weapons. Altmer also see other races (especially Humans) as lesser than they are and are often considered to be elven supremacists.

The history of the Altmer is almost entirely unknown due to their secretive and distrustful nature. Few outside of the Altmer race ever venture into the Summerset Isles and even fewer get the chance to learn much about them as a people. What is known is that many of them despise other races and often go to war if another race worships a deity that they do not agree with.
