Description
The Rzit'aliair Deflector Shield is one of the most, if not THE most, proper example of the Inquisition's more than impressive ability in Defense. The shield consists of multiple integrated layers of magically enhanced obsidian and nanite weave mesh. There is a semi-circle depression on the top of the shield that allows the Stalwart to steady their equally unwieldy magilance on top of the shield.
When deployed, the Deflector Shield is immune to most slashing or piercing attacks, and can absorb and dissipate most energy projectile attacks. However, the shield is weak against destructive blunt attacks and does not deflect ballistic projectiles which can wear down a shield's deflection with continuous fire, thus making it more and more susceptible to energy based attacks.
Furthermore, when deployed, a Deflector Shield can not be moved or repositioned. As a result, a Deflector Shield is a nearly inpenetrable frontal defense, but next to useless when attacked from the sides or rear. In order to be as defensive and deflective as they are, Deflector Shields are made out of extremely heavy materials, and as a result, require specialized Magitek suits worn by their Stalwart users. However, once undeployed, the shield is able to be moved around like a normal shield, and allow the Stalwart a bit of mobile defense for close quarters. At the same time, however, the shield is unable to deflect energy weapons any longer, as that ability requires deployment. When undeployed, the shield is also not as effective at frontal defense, but it is still reliable.
It is said, both respectfully and jovially that, "A Stalwart Phalanx is nigh undefeatable until you kick them in the ass".
