Since the conclusion of the war, Luther was no longer given command of battalions unless the situation called for it, and never command of a Spartan battalion. However, he was given personal command of Spartan Fireteam Diablo, composed of the new Spartan IVs. Luther would prefer to be given command of Spartan IIIs or IIs and he’s convinced command doesn’t trust him with men whose loyalties would lie more with him than with command. Nonetheless, Fireteam Diablo are his men and his responsibility. Though Luther may treat his spartans like children, he does care for them deep inside.

Name: Lewis Smith

Callsign: Hawk

Age: 25

Description: A former Marine sniper, Lewis Smith earned multiple medals in his short term of duty as a marine. His talent had been noted during training, but his accomplishments on the battlefield caught the eye of command, who felt Lewis’ talents were wasted as a marine and inducted him into the Spartan IV program.

Lewis is a textbook example of the kids Luther hates. He’s overconfident, cocky, arrogant, reckless, and most of all: Young. He is naturally talented and has only seen the true horrors of the battlefield through video, which is to say he hasn’t at all. Because of this, he often acts as the group’s “clown”. Much to the irritation of Luther, who doesn’t see the point in comedic relief

Name: Alice Green

Callsign: Chad

Age: 37

Description: If Luther treats the rest of the spartans like children, he treats Alice more like a teen. She is old enough to have seen the later battlefields of the Human/Covenant war as an ODST. Her specialty is close combat and has black belts in Tae Kwon Do and Jiu Jitsu.

Alice takes her job seriously and strives to live up to the legend of both Aaron-157 and her commander, Luther-A029. She always embraces a challenge and does her best to finish it to the fullest despite her lack of talent. She blindly trusts people and is always blatantly honest, this combined with her obsession with martial arts and sparring led her callsign to be made ‘Chad’. An old earth moniker for the varsity captain on the football team.

Name: Charles Meriwether

Callsign: Needle

Age: 29

Description: Old enough to have grown up on the tail end of the Human/Covenant war, Charles had always wanted to become a Spartan, even though he didn’t know how they were made. They were the pinnacle of Humanity and he collected the numerous action figures of famous Spartans. He wanted to enlist in the military as soon as he was old enough, but his parents made him go to medical school instead, with hopes that he would become a doctor. Instead, he enlisted to the ODSTs as a field medic. His skill with medicine and quick decision making when treating the myriad of wounds on the battlefield earned him a spot in the Spartan IV program.

Luther respects a good doctor, and that’s what he sees in Charles. What he also sees, is a bright eyed greenhorn with no idea what it really means to be fighting for your life. He knows Charles has been on cloud nine since he was accepted into the Spartan program and part of Luther wants to put him through hell and make him learn what being a spartan really is. However, part of Luther doesn’t want Charles to lose his innocence.
