Strengths:Powerful blade can thrust through metals under titanium ,is light and easy to swing or thrust.Cuts burn flesh.

Weaknesses:The blade is short with a length of 60cm,hard to block counter attacks without shield.Superheated blade can be deactivated by electrical/emp weapons or magic causing the blade to rapidly cool within 2 minutes.

Traditionally a weapon used by the Varanus eons ago,the Imperium revived the weapon and updated it to superheat the edges of the blade with plasmic energy in a solid form.The plasmic blade activates when the gladius is removed from it's hilt.

The legion employs a fighting style similar to medieval western swordsmanship emphasizing power with slices and thrusts,however the form changes when used alongside a shield taking a similar style to ancient roman legions using the shield to block attacks while the gladius is used in defensive thrusts.

Today it is used by legionaries as an means to defend themselves in melee combat,using their open hand's claws to cause minor wounds and confuse the enemy,the gladius would then cut through the enemy.The Gladius is used by almost all legionnaires except those who carry the M-2 Rail-Rifle due to the rifle also acting as a bayonet.And the burden of a another melee weapon for them would be unnecessary.
