For years, Bethany Almis had ruled as the Rift's queen with no heir. After meeting a Galmarian warrior named Caleb however, she knew that one day, she would need a son or daughter to carry on her legacy after she was gone. That day was finally here and Beth would soon be giving birth to a daughter of both Human and Galmarian descent. Almost a year ago, the royal couple had spent the night together, leading to the conception of the Rift's future leader. Now, it was time for her to arrive.

Beth lay awake in a hospital bed, constantly in pain and wishing she could hurry up and give birth. Her husband sat constantly by her side, refusing to leave his family as nothing was more important than the woman he loved. Caleb would not rest until he had held his daughter in his arms.

Eventually the time came and Galmarian doctors rushed to Beth's hospital bed, the queen beginning to push as hard as she could so that her heir could experience the universe for the first time. Hours passed and the child would not come. Almost a day later, doctors decided that it would be much easier to operate on the queen and extract the baby through a C-Section.
Initially, Caleb refused, holding his blade to a doctor's throat.
"Stand down, Caleb. That's an order!" Bethany demanded, her husband quickly complying and allowing the doctors to take the queen away to an operating room.

"Don't worry, my King. Your wife will be in good hands, you have my word." the leading doctor assured him before leaving to join the rest of the group who would soon operate on the queen.

Seventeen gruelling and painful hours passed as Galmarian doctors operated to safely remove the royal baby. Eventually, it was over. The queen lay peacefully back in her hospital bed with everyone around waiting for the anaesthesia to wear off. Until the queen awoke, the newborn princess was kept in a special chamber optimized for the safety of a child her age as she had round the clock supervision. For now, nobody was allowed to see the princess - Not even her father.

Another twelve hours passed before the anaesthesia had worn off enough for the queen to awake from her slumber.
"Where is my child?" she demanded groggily, rubbing her head in an attempt to rid herself of a headache.
"Your highness, your daughter is being looked after in the nearest nursery centre." the head doctor responded. "We have been waiting for you to awake before allowing anyone to see her but can now have her brought to you immediately if that is your wish." he continued, the queen quickly nodding in approval, anxious to see her newborn daughter.

"Your husband has taken leave to provide himself some much needed nourishment and shall be back shortly. We will notify him that you're awake and have him return immediately." the doctor spoke as he tapped on a high tech wristpad. "Your husband and child will both be here shortly, your highness."
