Strengths

-Being Amphibians, Sulush can submerge themselves for several hours without requiring air. This is also assisted by numerous extensions of their already large lungs.

-They have a very attuned sense of smell, allowing them to smell a drop of blood in water from miles away.

-Sulush have unhinging jaws (similar to snakes) to feed on larger prey.

-Unlike most amphibians, Sulush easily survive in water with high levels of salt.

-Sulush do not stop growing until they die, leading to some of the older beasts growing up to twenty feet long.

Weaknesses

-Sulush use primitive ways of breathing (through their skin) so they must be kept moist, meaning they must always stay near water sources.

-The species is extremely divided amongst its tribes, with each one having completely different dialects than one only a few dozen kilometers away. This has kept the Sulush from becoming anything more than an intelligence akin to an advanced cave-man of ancient Earth.

-Sulush are in general a stubborn race. One story among tribes is of a Sulush male who watched as the waves receded, which they knew as a tsunami, and simply held his ground, not moving until the water pushed him off his feet. Even then, he swam against the current, until he was swept out to sea, never to be seen again.

Sulush have an enhanced social structure, each one having a place in the tribe. The tribes are always run by the largest male, know in most dialects as "Shamat". These tribes all believe in the Great ones, a collection of gods that control all aspects of the world, and that the starships that come to their world are "the prophets of the sky and star gods".

History

An old race, dating back ten thousand years to the last Terran Ice Age, based on fossils found on the planet, Sulush have developed little since their evolution, merely developing fire and sharp tools in the time it allowed Humanity to rose to the stars. Their divided nature leads to many wars which hinder their progress, and the sparse placement of the islands of Panlin forces the amphibious creatures to live such a primitive life. Their religiosity seems to have formed around three thousand years ago, when an "enlightenment" began. It is rumored that this "enlightenment" was an ancient starship passing in the sky (possibly forerunner).
