| Name: Half-Dragon Homeplanet: n/a Sentience: Yes Strengths They can fly. They have an ability like their draconic parent. This ability would be related to the parent's. Such that, if their draconic parent could breath fire, then the Half-Dragon child would have some control over fire. The extent of this control, however, is dependent on both parents. If the draconic parent was an extremely strong Dragon, then the child would have better control over fire. If the child's non-draconic parent was some sort of species with an alignment towards fire, then the child would have excellent innate control over fire. Though, if their non-draconic parent was a species attuned to water, then the child would have terrible control over fire. This same concept can be applied to all draconic abilities and racial characteristics of species. Weaknesses They cannot shift forms, nor can they control their abilities as well as a full-blooded dragon. Appearance They look, for the most part, like their other half. However, they tend to have slitted pupils, elongated canines, scales covering parts of their body, draconic wings, and a scaly tail. Culture They typically grow up with their non-dragon parent, adopting his/her culture. History Most Half-Dragons tend to have a human parent. This is due to the extreme similarities between the Dragon's huminoid form and humans themselves. While intercourse is the same as it would be between normal humans, the birth and developement of the offspring is slightly different. Half-Dragons are only born between a male dragon and a female of another species, which is once again typically human. Unlike a human child, a half-dragon will stay in the womb, developing, for an entire year. When they are born, they seem completely human. It is not until they hit puberty that their dual heritage begins to show itself. Their abilities are the first things to manifest. Half-dragons with the innate control over fire or any other volatile power will typically find themselves having a troubled youth. About half-way into their puberty, which is only slightly longer than a human's, their scales begin to develop. These scales can form almost anywhere on the half-dragon. Then, near the end of their puberty, the Half-Dragon will enter a comatose-like state in which their tails and wings will form. They enter this state in order to save their minds from the excruciating pain of forming new appendages. Intercourse between a female dragon and a male humanoid does not result in a Half-Dragon. In fact, the child will always pass away in the egg that the female dragon lays. While it is theoretically possible for a child to come from such a union, none have ever been witnessed or recorded.

| I understand that you're trying to give as much freedom as possible, but this isn't quite enough detail, so I'll give you some ideas to help flesh these guys out. 1. - Drake wrote:

Honestly, this doesn't quite cut it. What kind of ability can half-dragons inherit? Give some examples, like a Fire half-dragon having the ability to breathe fire. 2. Your history is far too short, even if they don't really have a history to begin with. To give you some ideas; how exactly is a half-dragon born or what are these "recent incidents" you refer to and how do they make half dragons discriminated against and looked down upon? |
