Name: Ka'fael
Homeplanet: Gl'sek IV (more a moon than a planet a former goblin outpost)
Sentience: Semi-Sentient
Strengths
Exceptional senses of touch and hearing. They use their feet to pick up seismic vibrations in the earth as well as utilize a form of sonar similar to bats on earth.
Both front paws are equipped with three four inch long claws. Claws and paws are not very usefull in combat their primary purpose is for digging through the earth.
The species as a whole are trainable able to follow a series of simple comands or one moderately complex.
Weaknesses
Super acute hearing brings a dangerous downside as they can be driven crazy by extended periods of intense noise.
Ka'fael spend most of their lives underground for a reason, it's safer. They lack weapons to fight off predators of any kind.
Appearance
Ka'fael walk on all fours and stand roughly four feet tall at the shoulder. They are approximately six feet long from the tip of their nose to the end of the small bob that is their tail. The average weight for a ka'fael is one hundred eighty pounds although there have been rare cases of them growing up to two hundred fifty pounds. They have fur instead of hair that was once a prized comodity and has been a reason for their decline. The fur is thick almost satiny in texture and golden brown in appearance. Extending roughly a foot from their skull is a snout housing nothing but molars as they are herbivores. Long floppy rabbit like ears top the ka'fael's head making them an extemely strange looking creature.
Culture
Ka'fael are far too skittish to have much of a culture. Typically mothers raise their single offspring until they reach six months old. However, they have been known to abandon newborns if a threat is detected. Breeding season is short being only two weeks out of the year with gestation being seven months. Small groups of ka'fael are not uncommon as they bond together for protection from predators (maybe they'll eat somebody esle). However, these small groups tend to break apart when predators arrive.
History
Goblins first discovered the ka'fael and hunted them for their meat and fur. It wasn't until two hundred years later that they discoved ka'fael could be domesticated into beasts of burden or even pets. As beasts of burden they proved usefull in controlled environments away from predators. As pets they were proven extremely usefull at threat detection and from there were pressed into military service with varying degrees of success.
