The Pherix V-5 Corvette forms the backbone of the Serpentum Armada,unlike other ships in the Armada it contains an crew of just 5 naval crewmen with an trained Captain.The rest of the ship's systems like the weaponry and support systems are all run by an advanced yet basic AI system.

The mass-produced Pherix Corvette is designed to swarm larger battleships whilst engaging other enemy vessels of the same catagory. The Corvette is also popularly used to patrol Imperial space,chase pirates and protect trade routes and is quite cheap for private use.

The powerful Higra railguns are capable of cutting through the shields and armour of frigates with an few well placed shot,however these guns are static meaning the Corvette needs to turn it's nose towards ships to engage them with it.Despite this flaw it still allows the Corvette to engage larger ships,with its chain guns providing limited point-defense against fighters,bombers and other smaller ships.

The Corvette was designed to be offensively powerful in large numbers,an single corvette will be an limited threat to more powerful ships.Because of this design tactic it has an standard shield rather then Impact shielding that requires more powerful reactors....Leading to more expenses for mass-production.

Because of the high risk factor of dying in large scale conflicts the Imperium reduced the organic crew number aboard these ships,to prevent the Crew-Ship ratio from becoming negative if the Imperium gets drawn into an war of attrition.
