Whether political or personal, all drama was something Elias preferred to avoid. Since legions of lawyers duked it out over the legality of an immensely secretive faction within the GSU had caused tension in both the Nypherians' opinion of the Union and between the people itself, Elias had managed to ditch the other Nypherian officers in favor of some street clothes and a decent book to read in the middle of the day. Somehow, a bunch of AIs and stuck up military officers had forgotten how to relax for longer than thirty seconds.

With that said, Elias stepped into the first bookstore he passed and grabbed strolled down the the urban fantasy aisle, traditionally filled with dark paperback covers, anti-heroes, and uselessly overpowered magic. Elias sighed as he flipped through pages of the apparently more popular novels, even more traditionally filled with teenage stars trying to make their way in a new supernatural world after a tour of the secret society's base, an introduction to everyone useful, and the big bossman who may or may not end up being the villain by the end of the series. He ended up picking out a detective noir novel based in a reality where people were ruled and brainwashed by major corporations. The main character being a refreshing mix of a guy trying to do the right thing but also with the guts, know-how, and bullets to survive the next cyborg mugging or police shootout. Not really Elais' cup of tea, but it would do for a few days. He purchased the book and slipped it into his well stocked leather satchel before moving towards a restaurant/bar next door. Patronage was thin during mid-afternoon hours, but a seat by the window would do perfectly for some light reading and a bit of food for the day.

All work and no play makes Ayano a dull girl. After a busy day performing, shall we say, certain...illicit acts Elisabeth wanted to do one thing and one thing only: get absolutely wasted..and maybe have something nice to eat. Sharing food and drink with her buddies was exactly Elisabeth's idea of a fun way to unwind! Opening the door to the restaurant Elisabeth walked in flanked by two men in pitch black pilot suits, devoid of any symbols apart from a skull and cross bones emblazoned onto their right breasts. Of course Elisabeth had a unique attire on in the form of tight jeans, a tank top and a black aviator's jacket also emblazoned with the same skull and cross bones. All of them wear packing heat in the form of side arms on their waists a detail that one should be mindful of. The group looked over the quiet bar/restaurant combo and made their way towards a table.

Sitting down at the booth/table right behind Elias Elisabeth leaned back her arms resting upon the top of the couch like seats. "Hey mate with the sexy facial hair. Get ya nose out the book. What's the grub here like?" Crass as always Elisabeth might have sounded belligerent but really she simply didn't care about dancing around the matter. Of course the one thing Elisabeth did care about was getting some good food in her stomach hence why she grabbed the menu and began scanning it mechanical eyes rotating to focus. "Hmmm..ooooh...that chicken looks nice..." If there was one thing Elisabeth had a weakness for it was a good bit of chicken breast. Not the fast food in and out chicken breast but a soft, dry tender slow cooked piece of chicken drizzled with a lovely sauce to give it some extra punch. The best thing was? The chicken meal she was considering came with a simply delightful sounding Cajun sauce; she always did like a southern kick to her food.

The setup for Elias' detective novel was fairly quick. By halfway through the second chapter of the squat novel, the detective's targets had been revealed: a team of six superpowered androids nearly indistinguishable from humans were on the loose after having been manufactured by the world's biggest robotics company. Now it was his turn to find them. Elais' reading was interrupted for a few moments as he ordered a water and the restaurant's lunch special: a turkey club sandwich partnered with 'homemade' chips.

Naturally, such a perfectly relaxed afternoon wasn't to last. Elias' reading was interrupted by a particularly invasive girl in the booth behind him, saying something about his poorly groomed five o' clock shadow being sexy and the quality of food in the restaurant.

"I dunno," Elias responded flatly, "I haven't eaten here before." A moment later, his sandwich and water arrived. Elias quickly consumed the club sandwich, which couldn't be described with any word other than dry. The turkey was far too salty, the bread too dry, the bacon overcooked, and the lettuce and tomato had probably been sitting in a fridge for longer than a week. Elias dropped a handful of credits covering the tip. "You ought to work on your social skills," Elias said, "A person reading doesn't want to be bothered." He slipped the novel into his bag and started towards the exit.
