Elisabeth was born on a back water blot of a planet in a far flung system so far away it's not even worth visiting. Her family were part of a farming community and so she was expected to run the farm with the rest of her family. Of course she was only a baby at this point. Given the backwater nature of her planet it was a rather rural place to live and was very primitive all things considered but despite that there was still some form of educational system in place. It was this education system Elisabeth was put through for the first many years of her life teaching her well...whatever a school in 2534 would teach.
Skipping forward a fair amount of years, to when she was roughly age eight, and Elisabeth started to help out on the farm with her family who have now sadly moved on. That was when she came to experience the biggest problem plaguing her system: pirates. Being such a backwater and technologically undeveloped planet meant they were rather easy pickings for space born pirates carrying laser weaponry. At her young age Elisabeth did not understand what exactly happened..all she knew was she was told to hide and never again saw the eldest of her many brothers. You can probably fill in the gaps.
Skip forward to age ten and sadly things take an...even more depressing turn. Those very same pirates returned but instead of simply lootin' and leavin' they decided to murder everyone they found, loot the entire town and then burn it all to the ground. She does not know why they did this but that does not matter. Thanks to the efforts of her second oldest sibling, her big sister, she managed to live to see another day. Sadly her elder sister went back to try and help others but never returned from the burnt out husk of her home town. Luckily enough every cloud has a silver lining irregardless of how minor it may seem.
On that morning Elisabeth's silver lining came in the form of an enormous vessel so large it blotted out the sky. Groaning and churning the vessel belched forth a landing vessel. Out of that vessel came "soldiers" who had been chasing those pirates for a very long time. Obviously they could not just leave Elisabeth there and so brought her with them. Sadly what she had seen left Elisabeth very...catatonic and while the "soldiers" who rescued her did what they could to help her it came to nothing. In fact it was only when they finally caught up with the pirates, and taught them the error of their ways, that Elisabeth snapped out of it.
Having pulled herself back together she was left with no where to go and so was offered a place with the "soldiers" who rescued her an offer she accepted; after all she had grown to like the "soldiers" and had no where else to go. Over the years as Elisabeth aged and spent more time with the "soldiers" she learned the truth. They were not in fact soldiers who had taken matters into their own hands; instead they were a group of rogues who went around ruining the days of people worse than them and profiting from it. Elisabeth may have been biased but she decided she wished to join her new family in their career.
Skip forward many years yet again and we reach Elisabeth at age twenty five. She had worked her way through the informal ranking of her pirate band to become one of the senior pilots and was in fact given command of a fighter group. At first she was very....insecure about it but it turned out she had a natural affinity for it. Skip forward five years and she had earned her place as squadron leader but that's merely back ground info at this point. It was on this day that Elisabeth stumbled into yet another tragedy masking a silver lining. It's funny how many of those she has had in her life.
It was supposed to be a day like any other. Elisabeth's pirate band had come to a farming colony to rest, refuel, resupply and have some shore leave but Elisabeth was eager to explore always having been restful. She took her vessel and flew across the planet's surface go far beyond the "safe zone" the natives of the planet insisted everyone stay within. Of course she ignored that and things went south very quickly. Almost half an hour of flying after leaving the safe zone her vessel experienced technical difficulties and crashed..when it reality she had been shot down but by what she doesn't know; in fact she wasn't even aware her vessel HAD been shot down.
Violently crashing in the desert Elisabeth's space suit absorbed the majority of the damage but she was still injured. With an arm broken by the impact and her eyes blinded by the explosion she staggered out of the wreckage grateful she knew the basics of first aid. For hours she staggered through that desert heading back the way she thought she had come but sadly as hunger and dehydration began to gnaw away at her injured form she only got more lost. Eventually she came to a cave structure jutting out of the ground. Staggering into the cave she collapsed having failed to notice the artificial walls of steel surrounding her.
Yet another case of amazing, almost unnaturally amazing, luck came to Elisabeth's rescue for the facility she staggered in was self-aware. Through the usage of nano machines the A.I repaired Elisabeth's body replacing what it couldn't fix, hence her lower right arm and eyes being mechanical, but not out of generosity. This A.I had been placed in the facility to complete a long abandoned scientific project yet nobody told the artificial intelligence that. As such it had assumed full control over the facility and completed the project....except for one final element: a pilot. As the A.I knew it was degrading it decided to complete it's objective and make that pilot Elisabeth.
When she awoke Elisabeth was very confused to find herself on an operating table even more so when she discovered the gigantic dragon like vessel waiting for her. Despite how lost, confused and disorientated she was Elisabeth knew she had no choose but to try and pilot the vessel before her. She was lucky the now dead A.I had implanted her with instructions and augmentations to assist in piloting said vessel and so found her way back to her fellow pirates rather easily. They were all very happy to see their ace pilot safe and sound but even more impressed by the insanely advanced vessel she showed up in.
That was thirty years ago and since then Elisabeth's skill, not to mention her "fame", as a pilot has only increased. Nowadays she still pilots that same vessel she found in the desert still unaware of what it is, how it works or how comes she's able to pilot it so well. One can only assume her augmentations are the reason behind such a thing but little does she know the truth is buried in her father's past. Of course Elisabeth is not one to look such a potent gift horse in the mouth and as such takes advantage of her personal vessel; it's not like anyone else can as her vessel displays an odd amount of liveliness for what she believes is a fighter craft assisted by A.I...key phrase being what she believes.
