Name: LDV Drone ArmadaOwner: Lt. Dan'l Voxic
Creator: Lt. Dan'l VoxicDevelopment Thread:https://convergencerp.rpg-board.net/t1037-wreckage Type: Multiple radio controlled dronesUse: The drones have a variety of uses although each one can only accomplish a single use. I'll list uses here:
1. Surveillance (cameras / microphones) drones can be outfitted with a complement of video equipment able to live stream footage or with cameras. Cameras offer a greater degree of flexibility as they are not limited by signal strength and can change lenses remotly. An additional surveillance feature is the introduction of microphones and audio recording these can either be added to an existing drone inceasing its weight and dropping manuverability or by themselves on a small drone.
2. Targeting / Range Finding drones can "paint" a target to enable either a smart round or smart bomb to find its target. Range finding drones are sent to radio back range from one target to another for effective artillery strikes or sniping.
3. Communications drones are set in place to extend the range of other drones. They are helpless in every way and they require the same amount of concentration as the other drones. Communications drones extend the range of the nearest drone by fifty percent.
4. Attack drones can carry either one smart bomb or two missles (bunker buster, anti-tank, air to air are the most comon) or two anti-tank mini-guns with one thousand rounds of ammo.
5. Transport drones can carry equipment into hostile areas where a regular pilot might not attempt to do so. Typically trasnport drones are of the large variety and can carry up to two tons in weight. Air dropping the equipment has been the safest and most reliable option currently for these drones.
Rarity:Rare
StrengthsThe LDV Drone Armada allows one person to simultaneously use up to three seperate drones for a variety of tasks.
Drones are small meaning detecting and eliminating them is difficult.
Being able to use three different or three of the same drone simultaneously is a monumental advantage to somebody with enough tactical thinking to envision using it in its many roles.
WeaknessesA single moments lap of concentration can destroy up to three drones simultaneously.
Drones are not shielded meaning they can be traced back to their source.
Being radio controlled if the signal is jammed all three can be destroyed.
All processing takes place through a holographic display if something were to happen to said display....
DescriptionThe LDV Drone Armada typically consists of five drones broken down for easier transportation. Between the five drones, crystals needed to acticate the holographic display, a high tech computer, headset, gloves and assorted gear for the drones. The combined weight of said equipment easily eclipses five thousand pounds making it not exactly portable. It breaks down to approximatly nine cargo crates with a full weapon load for each drone.
The user of the LDV Drone Armada uses simple commands with each hand to control two of the three drones. The third drone is controlled using a sophisticated headset that transmits head angle, direction, and even vocal orders. In order to keep track of the three drones the user must keep an eye on the holographic projection. Set up correctly the display stands six feet tall and nine feet wide. The display shows side by side by side displays of the three drones.
Drone sizes are small medium and large. The typical set up would be two each of large and medium and one small although Dan'l is experimenting more with the small sized drones.
As the drones are kind of vehicle like I'll give a breakdown of sorts. Visibility is a category I added for the drones ranging from one to ten it shows how difficult the drone is to see.
Small:
Speed: 8
Manuverability: 8
Visibility: 8
Range: 60 miles
Gear: 1 microphone / camera or can be used to boost communications
Medium:
Speed: 6 (-1 with microphone)
Manuverability: 5 (-1 with microphone)
Visibility: 6
Range: 40 miles
Gear: Surveillance
Large:
Speed: 4 (without bomb / missles / cargo +1)
Manuverability: 3 (without bombs / missles / cargo +1)
Armor: 2
Visibility: 4 (with a large cargo -1)
Range: 20 miles (can gain an extra 3 miles per missle fired / bomb dropped )
Gear: One bomb, or two missles, or two mini-guns / up to 4,000 pounds cargo
Massive amounts of training are needed to get a person ready to operate the armada and the expenses to operate it are astronomical. However, if the circumstances warrant pulling it from the dusty wharehouse where it sits Dan'l will be more than happy to bring the project back to life.
