Much like the MK40, the STG.66 Assault Rifle was manufactured to be an inexpensive hybrid between plasma and ballistics, after the STG.65 proved to be too much of a hassle to mass produce. The STG.66 is the Reich's attempt to arm their troops with modernized equipment.
