The Keeper of the Way, or known to this galaxy as the Celestial of the Way. Like all celestials, the Keeper was made by beings with vast power dwarfing that of their own.
Lore of the Keeper:
The old dwarven bartender leans over to tell a story whilst polishing his prized glass tankards."While not one of the most well-known celestial, the beings that made The Keeper charged it with the responsibility of the Way, also known as the great void that lies between all planes. Its solitary existence roaming the void watching has caused some peculiar idiosyncrasies, it occasionally takes form of a masked figure in front of any travellers that lose their way in his domain. The Keeper offers them a contract, in return for its help the traveller will conduct a ‘favour’. While against the code very few, if any, celestials look into the darkness of the Way. On rarity he leaves his post briefly to enter planes, but the eyes of other celestials and his duties to the void means he rarely stays long."
"The question now comes up, why was he made to look after something which is empty? That is a good question, and one I do not know the answer to. It is said by those few travellers who pass by and have had the unfortunate luck of meeting him, that he stares off into the void for long periods of time mid-conversation. Very few things can hide from his eyes. Eyes ironically that are made to find the things that stir hiding in the darkness of the void."

The Keeper is ancient like most celestials, but his time in the Way has made him curious about mortals. The Keeper is not good, but nor does it go out of its way to be evil, its doing the job tasked whilst also trying to subtly implement its own will on the mortal realm for some unknown reason. Whether just for its own twisted-fun or something more serious is up to debate. The Keeper is known to other celestials but only as a minor figure.
How will The Keeper of the Way be used in RP purposes?The Keeper appearing will be rare, the chances will be raised if the opportunity exists within a public thread that works within The Keepers lore reasons such as:
- Most portal journeys are straight from A->B within a plane not going into the void/Way = no encounter. But if players actually crosses planes or uses Way/void magic to exit and re-enter the same plane there is a small chance of encounter.
- If players have entered the Way/void for extended periods of time have a higher chance of encounter. Players who get lost within the Way/void, or get lost on purpose to try and find The Keeper for whatever reason they have in mind, will have much higher chance of an encounter.
Other factors:
- If a lot/powerful void/Way magic is being used it will tend to get The Keepers attention, but it won’t mean he will appear. It will mean The Keeper may keep tabs on those characters for possible encounters, again raising the chances of an encounter either in the Way/void or briefly in the plane.
- Example character types that can be effected: Voidwalkers, Waymagic users and anyone that accompaines them.
An example of this is The Keepers interactions with E’li in its first appearance thread. This is due to the Sĭgren story line. Without too many spoilers, in the past Isa interaction with the Keeper leads to a deal of sorts between the two, but that is a story on its own.
