Okay so in order to achieve full space travel such as lightspeed or warp would i need a dev thread?

If you're developing from a species that is still around the equivalent of our real life technology or less, then a development thread showing their evolution would make sense. However lightspeed and warp is pretty common in this galaxy, and we usually only require dev threads for uncommon and powerful technologies.

Yea I'm not trying to develop instantaneous travel and they are relatively close to achieving it on their own but with the new information gained by the new scientists and the satellite Xion floating near their own star on the effects of gravity and how it could slingshot them. Now what i was planning was there would be the ability to get very fast but they do need a slingshot of gravity and then a timed release of the energy which would vault them forward to the that speed

Oh, and what template should I use for a satellite?

Use the Starship template and lower the scores to better suit a satellite (eg. it probably wont have many weapons if any).
