After teleporing herself home, changing her clothes, and staring at a map, she found roughly the right continent. She stretched out her palms, closing her eyes and picturing a place she knew in that continent. It was difficult because she was still a bit weak after her encounter with Legion and the trip home.

It took her at least and hour to get enough magic to cooperate, but finally she did. Kitty disappeared from her home in a flash of light. Unfortunately her landing was rather rough. She landed smack dab on mountain rocks, letting out a grunt as all the air was knocked out of her and she began tumbling down the small hill beside the mountain she'd landed on. 

She had made it to the Alaskan Range. Somewhere on this continent, the book and it's master waited.

"You look like you've been through Hell." A flat yet familiar voice came from a few meters away from where Kitty eventually landed. "Or something similar." Sam'anar turned his metallic head to examine her, making note of her injuries and condition. "You walked right into his domain and played his little game." Quickly his hand rose to silence her remarks at how he might be lecturing her.

"I know, it was necessary to find the book before ONI do." He then let his hand drop. "So you know where it is and a presumed dead relative of yours is it's master." Sam'anar nodded as he went over the information. 

"Care to lead the way?"

Kitty got up, dusting herself off and glaring at Dan. She started muttering under her breath, walking towards him then brushing past him. "Stupid stjerne mand taler til mig som jeg er nogle klynker barn. Du er sådan en pik. Hvorfor skal jeg altid falder for de irriterende dem? Hvorfor kunne jeg ikke falde i kærlighed med en revisor med en hund?" Kitty stopped a few steps behind Dan, letting out a sigh and swallowing her pride. "All I know is that it's in this continent. I think I've got a spell that could work to track the master instead of the book. But I'm not sure if I have enough magic to do so."

"Fordi jeg er yndig." Sam'anar replied fluently, turning at her mention of needing more magic. "Will Celestial magic suffice?" His voice was half-sarcastic as it was obviously a rhetorical question. "Don't worry I'm not breaking any cosmic laws helping out. The Grimoire is powerful enough for this to officially be a celestial matter..."

He walked to her side and stopped where she did. There he placed his palm forward facing up, curling his fingers to channel magic through them. His other hand came above and pointing at the air, drawing lines which appeared a thin white color floating in nothingness. After a few seconds the lines resembled a small construct, which began descending until he held it in his hand.

Upon making contact with his skin it began glowing a deep purple and blue, pulsating with energy that Kitty would no doubt feel strongly.
"A Nexus." He commented, weighing the object in his hand. It was the size of a large tennis ball and contained main flat sides. Although it was solid there seemed to be no defined edges to the object, as if it's shell was clearer than glass. 

"I believe it'll have enough power for you to draw upon." Sam'anar looked at her now, keeping the Nexus in his hand for when she needed it.

Kitty tried not to smile at his use of her native language and his words, but one broke out on her face anyway. "Adorable, yeah."  She turned to Dan, no longer looking annoyed or angry.  "That should be enough, thank you." 

Kitty reached out a hand, there was still blood under her finger bails,  placing a palm on the Nexus. She jumped as she felt an instant connection with the magic, rexisting the urge to let out a giddy giggle. Her excited expression turned into a serious one as she concentrated, mouthing the words to the spell as suddenly her eyes opened, consumed by a bright white light.  "I can see a house... on the other side of the range. Heh, guess I got pretty close." She let out a chuckle then fell silent. She moved her sight closer via the spell. She moved quickly this time, seeing a gauzy room and the book open on a bed. "I see it! Its- Gah." Kitty made a noise as if she was choking. Suddenly the white magic radiating around Kitty turned dark green.

The magic seemed to close in on her and engulf her, then she vanished before Dan's eyes.

Sam'anar held the nexus steady as she used it, watching her expression whilst she searched for the master. Unbeknownst to her he could see the same vision as her thanks to the link the nexus made to her magic. What he did not foresee though was her disappearance, which left him confused at first. Quickly though he snapped his head around, unable to see her close by. 

"What the..." At that he began peering into the cosmos, looking far and wide with his celestial power to find her. Using the trace of magic that pulled her away he too vanished, using his cosmic teleportation to follow her...

Dan found himself in a richly decorated bedroom, but it was unfortunately empty. It was clear Kitty had been there though, the pillows were on fire. Kitty had been in that room moments before, incredibly angry and covered in fire. She was now walking through the house silently, something about this house was vaguely familiar to her but she just couldn't place it. Kitty opened one of the hallway doors just a crack, only to be grabbed by an unseen force and yanked inside. It appeared to be a library she had been yanked into, but Kitty didn't have time to take in her surroundings before she was thrown into a massive book case with a loud bang. She saw stars, attempting to get up from where the fallen bookcase was only to be thrown up into the ceiling. Then suddenly it was like whatever was holding her was gone, leaving her to plummet down from the high ceilings where a fire poker stood at attention and faintly growing green. Kitty was slammed down onto it, the poker going straight through her stomach as she spat out blood. "G-Gah!" Yet again before Kitty could move herself off of the poker it was thrown into the wall, taking her with it and pinning her there as the metal morphed and warped so that the part that wasn't in her stomach bent. Kitty threw her head up, looking for the culprit. Then she found him, sitting in an arm chair with an amused expression on his face and the book in his lap. "Now now, that wasn't good manners. You're supposed to knock before entering a room." 

Elsewhere, in the bedroom that Dan had appeared in, was a large painting behind the bed. It was worn with age, but the people in the painting were able to be recognized. At least one could. Kitty stood tall in the painting, a slightly amused but certainly proud smirk on her face, dressed in the corsetted and intricate fashion of the middle 1800's. Her hand was rested on the shoulder of a young boy, but his face was slashed out, but on his other shoulder rested another hand. A man much taller than Kitty stood beside her, their shoulders brushing. He also had a slight smile on his face, his blonde hair heavily gelled and pride in his green eyes. It looked like a family portrait.

Sam'anar noticed immediately the burns around the room and at first was going to follow her trail. Despite hearing the bangs of Kitty being thrown about, he stopped to examine the painting. He knew she could handle herself especially after what Legion had put her through, so there was little need to rush to her aide. Instead he ran his finger over the painting, examining the faces he could see and the one he could not.

Her father? An uncle? A brother? Whoever it was seemed to be the likely master of the Grimoire. After a few more moments Sam'anar finally left the room, following the trail until he could watch what was happening between Kitty and the man.

As Dan walked the halls of the estate there were more pictures, these being from an actual camera, some were of Kitty with the little boy again laughing, but yet again his face was scratched out. There were others where it was just the blonde man with Kitty, or either of them alone. In each photo Kitty looked genuinely happy, in one she was kissing the blonde man's cheek.  It was a definite that Kitty had lived here, happily it would seem. But then as he grew closer to the library the photos would be sparse on the walls, and Kitty's face appeared to be more somber, looking at the scratch out little boy, now young man, with sadness. 

Inside the study Kitty had completely stopped fighting trying to get off the fire poker, staring at the calm young man that was sat in the arm chair, there was shock and pain in her eyes. The young man looked to be Kitty's age, physically at least, 18. He looked remarkably like her too. He had the same fiery red curls, going to just an inch past his jawline. His eyes were an exact replica of hers, although his Caribbean blue iris's had glints of malice and cruelty in them. There skin tones were one in the same as well, slightly tanned but not enough so that if close, freckles could be seen on their cheeks. The young man flicked his wrist up and the vein in Kitty's neck bulged, a choking sound coming from Kitty as blood oozed out of her mouth. But just as the blood dripped down her face and onto the floor, it seemed to ripple on the expensive looking Persian carpet. The mans hand glowed green and suddenly the blood took the shape of a snake, slithering up Kitty's body until it wrapped around her neck tightly. It squeezed till her eyes bulged, then it loosened it's grip, fire curled across Kitty's skin. She had been attempting to melt the poker in her stomach and burn the snake, but it just retaliated. The snake sunk it's bloody fangs into Kitty's neck, and suddenly she felt too disoriented to continue warming the now ice cold poker in her stomach.

Jebediah chuckled, watching Kitty with cruel amusement before his cold blue eyes cut to the door. With a lazy wave of the hand the door blew open, exposing Sam'anar to Jebediah. "Now now, your friends manners are just as horrendous as yours!" The laughter that escaped Jebediah was cold, and his attention turned away from the man with the galaxies for skin. Kitty's eyes were unfocused, but she still seemed to be struggling in an attempt to unbend the poker. "Ah, ah ah." He chided, raising two fingers slowly and the snake bit her again. Her skin looked grey around the bite, but ever the resilient Kitty's hands still moved. "Je...St.." 

Jebediah's other hand rose in the air, a tea set floating over towards Sam'anar as the Jeb seemed to completely disregard Kitty's voice. "Tea?"

For a moment Sam'anar stared at Kitty, pondering whether he should release her or engage the man. All sorts of plans came through his head, but alas he settled for one.

"Yes please." He nodded in thanks, taking a cup of tea in one hand whilst supporting the base of the cup in the other. "Quite a nice place you have." Sam'anar took a step inside, examining the room they were now all in. His cup raised to where his lips would be if he had a face, but despite having no mouth a sip of tea was consumed.

"Thank you, it's a family home." Jebediah replied smoothly, his hand moving slowly as it guided the tea set back onto the table beside him. He absentmindedly flicked through the pages of the Grimoire that rested in his lap, the scent of blood now thick in the air. Kitty had managed to shove herself off of the crowbar after bending it enough that she could slip off. The shock and pain had melted away from her face, only to be replaced by hatred and anger. In a quick movement she ripped the snake off her neck, the bloody reptile letting out a hiss just before it burned away to nothing in her hand. "Now, I don't know who the fuck you are or what your game is, but you're going to drop that glamour right now before I decide to rip your skin off to remove it myself." 

There was a definite change in the atmosphere as Jebediah looked sharply towards Kitty, the fire in the fireplace went out and it seemed that Jebediah's blue eyes had turned a glowing blood red. Also a very familiar color. "So you want games?" There was danger in Jebediah's tone, but Kitty's hatred and anger held firm. "How about Truth or Dare?" It seemed strange to hear that, considering his tone and the atmosphere of the room. "Close the book. Then open it." Kitty knew that if this man before her closed the book, and found himself unable to open it again, then he wasn't a Dagmaer. That was the trick with the Grimoire, once open anyone could use it. But should it be closed, only a Dagmaer can re open it. 

Jebediah's face curled into a Chesire grin, so eerily similar to Corsetta's that Kitty felt unnerved. Jebediah closed the book with an audible slam, the leather bound tome glowing for a moment before settling. Half of Kitty felt relieved and victorious, half of her wanted to scream and cry. Deep down she was hoping that he was who she thought he was. 

But then he opened it back up with ease, letting out a chuckle as he looked at her now stricken face. "Truth." He said to her, getting up and and summoning another fire poker into his hand. He walked up to her, aiming the tip of it at her throat. 

"Do you know who I am now,....




....mother?"

Smash. It wasn't a loud smash, instead it was quite high pitched and quiet. The sound of a teacup hitting the floor to be precise. Now Sam'anar stood with an empty hand, simply staring onwards in half-disbelief at the two of them.

"Excuse me?" He shook his head slightly, thinking he might have misheard. "Did he say mother?" Finally he lowered the hand that had held the teacup, still looking between the two of them. "Well on the bright side... I'm sure Jaya will be pleased with having another relation..."

His humour was rather forced, waiting for Kitty to reply and maybe elaborate.

Kitty on the other hand looked as if she might burst into tears, her eyes were already looking a bit misty. "Y-You died." Her voice sounded small, nothing like the brash head strong woman she was. A cold bark of laughter escaped Jebediah. " 'Y-You died.' " Jebediah mocked his mother, circling her like prey as he snapped his fingers. The space around the Grimoire glowed green, and it winked out of the room, hidden somewhere in the house. "A couple centuries pass and that's all you've got?" His eyes were still glowing red, and Kitty actually started backing away from Jebediah, the fire that had been running across her skin dying off quickly. "Jebediah. Stop this I-" Kitty was cut off when Jebediah waved his hand, an unseen force smacking Kitty into another book shelf. 


"I don't really find your shock all that surprising, doubtful that the great Kittiana Youngblood talks about her pathetic sickly son that she condemned to die." A bout of laughter bubbled up from Jebediah again, looking back at Sam'anar with a mad grin. "Jebediah that's not-" Kitty had gotten up from the bookshelf by now, looking at her son with desperation. Except all that she got was another withering angry look, her son walking slowly around the room as he lifted his hand up and moved it from side to side like a conductor. Each time he moved his hand Kitty was thrown into another bookshelf or another wall, "Oh be quiet you whore." He just sounded annoyed now, Kitty was trying to overcome Jeb's magic with her own, but the snakes venom was still in her system. She was being kicked up and down the room, her pride being battered along with her. Third time in two days that she was getting her ass kicked. 

"Fabulous actress she is, great manipulator as well. Gets everyone to believe she loves them, that they're special." "Enough!" Kitty yelled, sounding genuinely angry this time, during his slight rant Jeb had loosened the magical hold he had on Kitty. "Jebediah Tagon Valence, you will stop this foolishness right now. This whole thing is ridiculous and you're acting like a brat that didn't get what he wanted." Kitty stared Jebediah down, which seemed to infuriate him as all of a sudden all the books in the room took flight. They zipped and flew all around the room in a bout of chaos, they didn't seem to have a particular target, just flying around the room and dangerous speeds. "She always gets so angry and testy when shes called out on her games too." He snarled and jerked a hand forward, and suddenly Kitty was screaming at the top of her lungs and at an inhumanly high pitch. It felt like something had grabbed hold of her soul and was wringing it out like a wet towel. 


"We're all just toys to her, something to throw away when she gets bored with them or they break. Tell me? Did you love my father? Did you love me?" He didn't give Kitty a chance to answer, jerking his hand forward again as he got closer to Kitty. Blood was dripping out of her ears, nose, and eyes now, she had never felt a pain like this before. "I bet you were so disappointed to get a sickly son, god knows how overjoyed you were all those years later to have Temperance. She was your favorite wasn't she? Little lightning storm and your favorite new toy was gone." Kitty's heart twisted in her chest, realizing what her son meant. Then a cruel and wide smirk formed on Jebediah's face, madness swirling in his blood red eyes. "I was your favorite until I broke, but you had the chance to fix me, but decided I wasn't worth it. But look at me now! Reducing you to your knees with the power I hold." 

Jebediah was now standing right in front of Kitty, looking down at her with hatred and madness. He grabbed her chin, green energy leeching into her skin as she suddenly began struggling for air coupled with the painful torture her soul was going through. "Is that your new toy over there? I wonder, have you told him you loved him just as you've told so many others? Just as you've told the other ones you've either killed yourself or let die?"

Sam'anar stood and watched for the most part, intrigued by the story behind this son's intense anger. His instinct told him to intervene and save Kitty from anymore pain, but there was a frightening fact holding him back. He could relate to this boy. He too was a toy of his parents, albeit mostly his father rather than his mother. Still, he finally exacted the revenged he wished for against Nozdormu, in truth saving the galaxy was a convenient addition.

As much as he related to the woes of the boy, one thing flipped his decision back. He was no toy.
"Enough," His voice echoed from all directions, whilst his metallic hand pressed against the wall closest to him. The white lines he conjured to create ran across every surface as if mapping them out, then slowly tearing them away to reveal an empty cosmos. "This galaxy is one of many, floating in an endless void of universes and dimensions immeasurable even by me."

"You are a mere spec in this existence. Insignificant and minute. There is great evil, suffering and matters of importance that far outweigh even the greatest mortal minds, yet here you sit; grovelling over grievances ages ago." Sam'anar began walking forward, his metal form slowly growing to become more imposing. "Your mother has saved countless lives, planets, and systems because of her deeds. Her efforts have saved the life you so willingly waste crying more times than you can imagine."

"I am Sam'anar, The Architect, Son of Nozdormu the Starforger. This may be your house but this is my domain. So hear me when I say this; you have no right. You are a waste of my parent's creation, a simple glitch in their infinite system. You are not special nor cared about, no matter how guilty you try to make her."

"So I suggest you drop the crying child act, lest I wipe your pathetic matter from this earth."
By now Sam'anar stood directly infront of Jebediah, and was much taller than at first. The cosmos around them continued to circle slowly, before finally the white lines retracted and they could see the walls again. 

"Now, the Grimoire."

Sam'anar's show startled Jebediah enough that he let go of Kitty, who dropped to the side greedily taking in a gasp of air. What was strange was the expression on her face, she looked as if she wanted to just shrivel up and die, and there were tears running down her cheeks. Her eyes were empty, like an open grave waiting for a casket. Jebediah's own red eyes slowly lessened back to blue, but while they had been staring at Sam'anar in fear just moments ago, they hardened into defiance. "You're a fool if you think I'm giving either of you that book." 

Jebediah seemed calmer now, the madness fading from his eyes but the defiance did not. He was certainly his mother's son. "Her? She's a monster. You act as if you know her but I hardly doubt you know that she's probably killed just as many as she's saved." Kitty had sat up, looking away from the two with pain and shame on her face. "The only thing she's used that book for is to kill others. And you? You aren't even a Dagmaer, although you have the arrogance of one." Jebediah's tone was starting to turn haughty, and fear showed in Kitty's eyes as she snapped her head back towards her son. As angry as she was with her son right now, she loved him to absolute pieces, despite what he thought of her, it was kill her if he got hurt any further. That was one of Kitty's fatal flaws, she was so intensely loyal she didn't know when to stop. 

She reached out a hand and grasped her son's leg, speaking softly with pleading in her voice, slightly raspy from screaming. "Please, Please just stop Jebediah. I know." For a moment Jebediah's face softened, looking so much like the little boy Kitty adored. Then it hardened again and Kitty was forced to retract her hand as green enveloped her son. "You want the book? Fine. Go find it." Jebediah threw his hands up and suddenly the room change, in fact the scenery changed, now they all stood in a massive labyrinth. "Doubt your cosmos eyes will be much help, or you wouldn't have even needed my mother to find the book in the first place. Good luck." He spat at the two of them, then promptly disappeared and left them in the maze. But something felt off about this maze, but that didn't seem to register with Kitty. 

The wounded and battered vampire got up silently, fixing her clothes with an empty look on her face. She brushed the dust of her boots, it seemed although she had started wearing shoes, boots were the only ones she wore. She hugged her arms around herself almost as if she were cold, but Kitty never got cold, and started walking with slightly hunched shoulders. "Sorry for dragging you into my shit as usual. Again."

Throughout Jeb's rant Sam'anar just stared at him, until finally he disappeared from sight. At that point he turned to help Kitty, placing his hands on her reassuringly. Although he was made from chrome his hands took on the appearance and feel of human skin when making contact with her. 
"No problem, I've met crazier people if I'm honest." There was a sense that he was smiling even though he had no face. 

"But he was right, I can't track the book. You're the best bet at that since it's your family's." He looked around fruitlessly to examine the maze they were in.

"So, care to lead the way?"

"Why do I feel like the crazy comment is aimed at me?" A soft chuckle came from Kitty, but then she fell silent as she went left in the maze. "So, Sam'anar? Is that what you perfer to be called now?" Surprisingly after that she remained silent for more then ten minutes as she walked through the maze, truthfully she didn't really know where she was going, but then she felt compelled to speak. 

"You aren't a toy to me you know. Never a toy." Kitty couldn't findo the courage to turn and look at him when saying this, she didn't know why she was saying it either. "Yeah, I've loved many other people but believe me when I tell you that you're different. I hated you for it at first too." She let out a slight chuckle, but there wasn't much humor in it.

"After Temperance and her father died emotionally I was in a bad place, I vowed to never fall in love again and to never have another kid. Yet ages later here you are, getting under my skin like it's nothing." Kitty reached out and let her fingers drag along the bushes, getting cut up by the thorns, perhaps she could make a hansel and gretel trail. "It's why I was always such a bitch at first, I was starting to like you a lot. But then again, I'd never fallen so quickly before. It took me awhile to figure out why but when I did, I was okay with it." There was a little smile on Kitty's face now as she kept looking ahead, taking a right.

"Around you I wasn't scared to be what I was, I wasn't holding myself back because I knew even if I turned into Coretta you wouldn't run away scared. Usually you would just punch me until I was good again." Kitty actually giggled at that, standing a bit straighter as she spoke. "You may have started out as a demon Dan or Sam'anar, whatever you prefer to be called now, but to me you were like an angel." Then Kitty fell silent for several long minutes, her face slowly turning as red as her hair. "Why did I say that?" 

There was a creaking noise, and a door in the path they just turned on opened. Kitty got close and read the inscription on the door. "Truth will reveal the way." Kitty turned bright red again. "Truth spell. Great."

"I'd prefer to be called Dan." Sam'anar stated bluntly, the truth spell taking a hold on even him. "I'd prefer not to be a Celestial. I want to be back on Earth with everyone else, fighting with everyone else. I'd prefer anything over sitting in that cloud of shitty stars building their damn machines." He let out a breath of air. Yes, a breath. During his rant he'd taken on the form of his human self, face and all. 

"I wish I could be back with you and Jaya. But I can't because I'm bound by Celestial Law; whatever the fuck that means." By now he'd turned to see the inscription on the door. A Truth spell. Instantly his form returned to chrome and he gestured for them to continue onwards, saying nothing more.

Kitty hurriedly walked in front of Dan, to hide the smile that was forming on her face. Ever since Dan had changed she had found it difficult to see the man she fell in love with, but his own little truth revealed to her that he was still there. Perhaps that was the way out? Telling truths and secrets? Jebediah probably thought that this would be cruel to Kitty, but it almost seemed to be working in her favor. Her next secret was random, but it was one she hadn't even told Diana.

"I wasn't born with my powers. My grandmother used a spell to gift them to me after my uncle murdered my mother. She said it would protect me and my sister. But she got the spell wrong, she accidentally infused us with pure energy. In that moment I could have picked any power I wanted. But I was just a foolish child that watched her mother get torn apart before her eyes." Kitty was walking faster now and her fists were clenched, her boots left scorching foot prints behind. "I wanted the power to destroy. I wanted to exploit a vampires natural weakness to fire. I wanted the power to bring my uncle to his knees and burn him to ash slowly just as he killed my mother slowly. I wanted vengeance and my anger gave me fire." Then Kitty's anger seemed to evaporate, looking down at her flaming hand. "I've let go of that anger recently, or have at least tried to. I succeeded in making it quiet up there though. I'm the one in control now. I think." 

There was another creak and the next path contained another open door.

Now that Sam'anar was aware of the truth spell he managed to keep quiet, instead reflecting internally on what he had just said. Was there any way back to a normal life? It was ironic. He was one of the most powerful species in the galaxy yet he did not have the power to live the life he wanted. Bound by stricter laws than mortals were. It was unfair, and that reminded him of when he rebelled against his parents in the first place.

Was this what corrupted celestials? Thoughts like this? He shook his head. No. He wasn't going to be corrupted. He just wanted his life back...

"How far off, do you think?"

"Not sure. But if my nose is right, then maybe two more doors? Maybe only one. I can smell the leather of the tome." She said quietly, she sounded distant and she looked distant as well. She was trying to think of another secret to tell that wouldn't come back to bite her. 'What did you do with time book...'

Kitty flinched and sighed, already the memories of what she used that book for were bubbling up inside her despite her trying to force them back down. "The last time I used that book was to curse another witch who had helped me with...something. What she had helped me with had back fired and I was furious. The fury I had against Draetheus couldn't even hold a candle to it. I wasn't in my right mind when I cast the curse, and it blew up in my face and all over the world. 75 million people died because I was angry. I made the wrong choice, as I always do, and I created the Black Plague. It's why Diana was warning me against magic. I don't know when to stop." Another door creaked and bile crawled up Kitty's throat, and she swallowed thickly before continuing through it. Another secret was starting to eat at her, but she would never dare speak it aloud. The consequences could cost her more than she was willing to lose. She'd just have to find another secret to tell.

Sam'anar nodded and continued on, silencing his thoughts on his own secrets. As Kitty told her story he remembered his slaughters back as a demon. The days of his life he was least proud of.
"Magic is addictive, people stronger than you have fallen under it's wrath." He said, reassuring her that she was not weak nor at fault for trusting magic so heavily. "You have done more good than evil, the Celestials agree to that much."

His head turned to look around for more doors.
"You know your son must have gotten really bored all this time, making stuff like this."

"Not bored. Spiteful." Kitty seemed much quieter and withdrawn now, shame was starting to show on her face as she stopped. She had just turned into a dead end. She turned but kept her head down as she passed Dan, she didn't like showing weakness in front of others, especially tears. She started walking again, trying to see if she could sense the doors. "He has a right to be too."

"All he wanted to do was give me something I wanted so fucking badly. I wanted someone to stay." Branches were started to grow in front of Kitty's path, but she just smacked them away regardless of the scratches the thorns left on her skin. "When he was 13 he got really sick. There was nothing the doctors could do and I poured over that book again and again. But I couldn't find it in myself to enact any of the spells. I couldn't do to him what I did to..." Kitty stopped abruptly, her hands clenching into fists. "He knew I was a vampire. He kept begging me to turn him. We could always be a family, he used to say. And honestly I would have done it." Then she looked down at her bloody hands, hatred burning in her eyes. 

"But I'm only half vampire, my venom doesn't always take. Instead of saving him I could have killed him. His body wouldn't have been strong enough anyway. I tried turning a sick daughter once. My first daughter. She died." There was a creak and Kitty was filled with rage, she reached out towards the door and ripped it off its hinges. She smashed it over her knee and threw it into the bushes before continuing. "I was wrong. There's one more door."

"Wonder where he gets it from." Sam'anar joked, continuing along the seemingly never-ending maze. He listened more as Kitty told another truth about being unable to save her son. "You did what anyone would have done. Spare their son from possibly more pain." Even knowing Kitty as long as he had he didn't know these things about her. She definitely had a horrific past, but she was stronger now than ever. She could face the truth.

"The sooner we find this book the sooner we save the world from possible destruction." Whether it was ONI or something darker who also wanted that book, he knew they had to protect it.
