Untreated flowers Empty
Private#1PostSubject: Untreated flowers    Untreated flowers EmptyWed Jul 12, 2017 6:43 pm

Months of sadness and death had riddled Jessie's time as an Immortal, making it appear as a curse rather than a blessing. But that was the funny thing, no matter how many hardships the Immortals gave her, the same amount of good things came with it. She met the love of her life, made friends, became somewhat of a hero, rather than the villain she once was. Yet those villain like tendencies still managed to show themselves, at times. Whether it be when she is on a mission and steals various items, or goes a bit too far with her enemies. Sure all of these where dismissed, but no matter how hard she tried, they'd always be there. And one day, her past would catch her.

It was her wedding day. A day she thought she would never see, it appeared so dream like. Smiling, happy people sat patently in their seats. The sun was bright and hot, almost cooking her in her own suit. Almost every seat was filled with familiar faces, Kat, Keya, Spectre, even Tower and Blaze where there, not cracking lame puns thankfully. Only two seats laid empty, those where for Jessie's parents. Sure Jessie did have the privilege to know who they were, but the seats where laid empty out of respect.

Then, as a white dove, and a black crow flew over head, the love of Jessie's life came around the corner. Sylvia, who was dressed in a snow white dress with a bundle of flowers she had stolen from Jessie, all that time ago, in her hands. She was flawless in Jessie's eyes, innocent, pretty, skilled, and kind. The exact opposite of Jessie. She was perfect. Her slow walk up to the stage caused Jessie to become nervous. She was certain she didn't look nearly as good as her soon to be wife, and what if Jessie messed up, or an objection came about? Thoughts clouded her mind with fear. However, she was taken out of her trance as she saw Sylvia in front of her. Suddenly all of Jessie's fears where gone.

"Now, we may begin," The clergy said in his soft voice. Turning to Jessie he spoke the simple words, while Jessie took her partner's hands. "Do you Jessie Red, take Sylvia Roothearth, as your lawfully wedded wife, and to love her through illness and until death?"

With words full of passion Jessie agreed with a simple "I do."

"And do you Sylvia Roothearth, take Jessie Red as your lawfully wedded wife and to love her through illness and until death?" The clergy asked turning to Sylvia.

"I do!" She replied almost instantly, her voice filled with joy.

"Then you may kiss the bride." And with that, the two almost jumped, first into a loving kiss and then to a hug, with Jessie picking Sylvia off the ground. However, something felt off. Sylvia weighed nothing in her arms, and everything became silent.

Opening her eyes, Jessie only saw horrors. What was once her wife was now nothing but a pile of dust in her hands. The clergy lay on the ground with a gun wound in his chest. The sky, now red like blood, and the sun black like the void. The trees and green grass where now all burnt and dead. No one sat in the audience, only a few crows and spectres broken mask. Then, there in the middle of the Isle was a horror Jessie never wanted to see. It was Sylvia, half of her was burnt and bleeding, while the other was rotting and falling apart. Her once buetiful hair was dirty and grey.

"You did this!" She screeched, appearing in front of Jessie. "You left me to this hell!" Jessie was frozen in place, unable to run or speak. "You're the true monster Jessie, you left your own flowers untended!" She screamed, rattling the inside of Jessie's bones, causing her own stomach to turn inside out.

Screaming she woke up from the nightmare. Smacking her head against the wall. "Fuck, it was just a dream... Just a dream." She told herself, none of it was real. Well most of it wasn't. Looking at the clock she saw it was midnight. Time to get up.

Forcing herself out of bed, she moved to her clothes, only just being able to put them on without falling over. She hadn't been the same since she left. Life had been far more difficult. With her clothes on, she grabbed her hat and gun, and made her way to the door. Pushing it open she looked at the black skies of the unknown planet.

Taking a few sets outside she clicked her fingers with her free hand, summoning a small flame from her thumb, which she brought to her palm. She then made her way into the woods to hunt, and to think.

Minuets seemed to pass like days to Jessie, everything moved at a cruel pace, always happening on an instant yet never seeming to move. The forest was dark, unmoving and cold. The only light came from the fire in her hand, whilst the three moons of planet sucked light away, rather than casting a ghostly glow over everything. Shivering in her skin, she held the fire close to her chest. The cold and darkness was unbearable at times, especially in the night. The darkness always seemed to hold demons of old, while the cold would speak to her, with cruel and disgusting words.

With the fire close to her chest, she hugged herself, moving slower with every step. She could sense them, the demons, she knew they where in the darkness, just watching her. Her fire was the only keeping their cruel words away from her soul. However, she could still feel their eyes resting over her body, looking at her with hungry and cruel intentions. They wanted to break her. They wanted her to pay for what she did. They only wanted to see her suffer.

She stopped in her tracks, her arms wrapped around herself tightly, the fire shrinking with every moment. She closed her eyes tightly, wishing everything away, whispering to be left alone under her breath. She knew why these things came for her, she was the one to blame, and she should of accepted it. She should of ended it right here and now.

"Get rid of all the problems," The voices whispered into her ears. "All it takes is one bullet" The voices whispered, their voices soft and comforting, like a mother's lullaby. "Do it Jessie, come to me," The voices whispered once more, however, it seemed to become one voice, soft and sweet, comforting and loving, Sylvia's voice. But that couldn't be right, Sylvia wasn't anywhere near, she'd probably forgotten about Jessie at this point. Yet she could hear her wife speaking to her.

"But I'm afraid..." Jessie whispered, her voice quivering in fear. She didn't even dare open her eyes. She had became so weak after these three years, she wasn't the hot headed girl she once was, instead she was a small, weak, scared and angry woman who had done so many terrible things.

"Don't be, I'm here for you, just one..." Her wife spoke softly placing her hand on Jessie's gun hand. Opening her eyes softly, Jessie looked at her wife. She hadn't changed a bit, she still had the warm smile and heavenly glow to her. "Just one."

Jessie starred at her wife, a smile of comfort came across her lips, a feeling of calm warmth filled her, a feeling she missed so much. But something wasn't right, she wasn't really there, the only thing there was a demon. A demon that had plagued her mind.

With her world suddenly falling apart around her, Jessie slashed her hand across the demon. Fire erupted from her palm, and within moments fire exploded everywhere around her, scarring the trees and the ground with scorch marks. Jessie stood there, in the middle of the chaos she had just created, she dropped her gun and to her knees. Her head fell into her hands as tears ran off her cheeks.

"I did this," Jessie cried out. "I caused this, I... I..." Choking on her tears, she couldn't even speak to herself. Then in an explosion of rage, she screamed and roared like a savage animal, throwing arcs of fire around her, scorching and destroying any wildlife or plant life that stood in her way. Falling to the ground she breathed heavily, all of her energy had once again left her.

She stayed on the ground for serval minuets, just breathing heavily, trying to get back in control of her sense. She had forced the demons away, and she had kept herself warm. She had won another days fight, much like the many days before. Forcing herself to her feat, she took her gun and relit the fire that was once in her hand. She needed to press on through the forest, she needed to see the next day.

Her feat dragged across the ground heavily, she was still struggling to press on ever since her outburst only moments ago. She could remember the days when such an outburst wouldn't of affected her at all, those were the sweet days, the days when she didn't have to worry about anything. But now? Now she struggled to even light the smallest flame and keep it alive.

She didn't question why she was like this, she knew all the reasons why she was like this. Three years of little sleep and little food, the scars that plagued her skin like runic tattoos, the overwhelming uncertainty of whether she'd wake up the next morning, the fear of Sylvia getting hurt, the nightmares. It was all too much. At times Jessie surprised herself on how she was able to press on. But she managed, just.

Suddenly, Jessie caught her foot on an unseen tree root. Air rushed passed her face, as she began to fall to the ground. Then with instinctive reactions Jessie reached out, grabbing a low hanging tree branch. With a heavy grunt, Jessie holstered herself up and rested her back on the tree's trunk. With heavy breaths Jessie closed her eyes, wanting nothing more than to just rest her senses.

With the looming darkness around her, the sounds of fire crackling in the distance, Jessie started to fall into a slumber. A warm slumber, something she missed. Something she needed. Something she got...

---

The icy air blew past and through her body, stabbing her like knives made of ice. The surface she lay on was rough and sand like, scraping her bare skin, causing an uncomfortable sensation to run down her spine. The horrid sound of coals popping came from all around her, yet they gave off no heat. Voices started to speak in unrecognisable whispers. Then her eyes were suddenly shot open as a rough and violent hand grabbed her neck, while another hand covered her mouth, silencing any scream.

All around her were figures dressed in dark robes, with golden gloves hugging their hands. Their faces were concealed by the darkness of the room, and a tight metal mesh that seemed to act as a mask. Jessie laid on a stone slab, an alter of some kind. The flickering of the coal torches that dotted the room made her sick as the shadows of the figures danced around her. She couldn't feel her clothes, and was swift to realise they had been taken from her.

With her eyes filled with fear she watched the figures. Five of them held her in place, one for each arm and leg, as well as the one keeping her quiet. A dark figure, dressed in similar robes now with red gloves, approached her. The figure appeared male, but she couldn't tell because of the mask, but she knew this thing didn't mean well. It held a knife, all dirty and jagged. The figure came up close to Jessie, now pressing the knife down on her stomach, there wasn't any pain, as the figure wasn't trying to break skin, but instead test her skin. Fear plagued her mind, she could remember how she had came her, why she was here or what was going to happen. Her eyes raced around the room looking for a way to escape, but her head was forced to face the red gloved figure. Then, all her fears were taken away as the red gloved figure plunged the knife into her stomach. Her blood curdling screams broke out as unfathomable pain rushed through her body, burning her insides.

---

Jessie was knocked out of her sleep with a terrified scream. Beads of sweat rolled down her cheeks, as she wrapped her arms around her stomach, patting herself down. She was relieved to find no open wounds, however she was still met with sadness and fear as she could feel the scars that were carved into her by those cultists. She knew the nightmare of the cultists, after all it was burnt into her memory after it happened.

She could remember every moment she spent in their captivity. The stench of victims before her, the evil experiments, the brutal rituals, the mindless cultists who followed every order of the red gloved cultist. Her memories of being their lab rat were things she wished she could get rid of.

"You'll be the first and the final spark, Grim." Jessie said, repeating the words under her breath. It's what the red gloved cultist said to her after it carved out the runic symbols in her. They were attempting to turn her into a weapon, give her the power of fire, make her a god in the magic, and they nearly did so. They didn't truly succeeded, they gave her the power of fire, yes, but that was through brutal training and torture, not through their black magic. Jessie knew they were insane, thinking they could turn her into some being of ever lasting fire, a monster. But Jessie wasn't the right one for that, no matter how hard the cultists tried to make her. When these cultists gave up on her, they threw her into some type of prison, to await execution, along with so many other victims. Jessie had her chance here, and she lead a revolt, breaking free and murdering every cultist with her new found power. She could remember the fighting, the uncountable amount of deaths, the stench of blood, and the hellish warmth of fire, her guilt and her leadership, she could remember it all.

She had killed them, she made sure that no one would ever have to suffer what she and so many others did. However one thought that did keep her up an night was the fact that she only found one red glove. Perhaps the other one got destroyed in the fighting, but the thought that the red gloved cultist might still be out there, terrified her.

Finding herself sitting on the ground, with her back resting on the tree truck, starring at the red glove she found, Jessie shook herself out of it. She could hear her stomach growling, she needed to continue her hunt, she needed to press on, no matter how many nightmares stood in her way.
