| Mordecai Smith, one of the two Grand Inquisitors among the Reich, was not happy. He was one of the most powerful men in the galaxy when it came to military might. And yet still, the GSU and the Nypherians seemed to have him outclassed. So several weeks ago, he had commissioned a project from Director Alden Wells, the Reich's head scientist, and their most successful. He needed a show of power, and soon, or the other galactic powers might take them for weaklings, and not a force to be reckoned with. They needed to attack another faction. The problem was, all the factions they had met had massive battleships ready to defend their borders, and the Vigilance alone cannot persevere against such ships.
And thus, he was on route to the orbital shipyards above Guerre, the birthplace of the Reich's navy, and the home of the Goliath battleship. The Director did not know he was coming. He wanted to surprise the man, make sure that his people were doing their jobs. He trusted the Director, but not the people who worked for him. He wanted to make sure they were doing their jobs, and still set to finish the first Goliath on time. He also wanted to see what the Director had planned for the ship and for possible future projects. He had sent an invitation to the Nypherians to come with him, but had received no response. He could only hope they would see the Reich in all it's industrial glory. |

| The Director Alden Wells stepped up to the Hangar window, gazing upon the bow of the Goliath battleship. Its guns made the Director shiver in anticipation for their use. His drones worked tirelessly, as he saw a Transport vessel pass by the hangar, descending towards the shipyard. As the Aphids continued their work, Alden turned to a lower worker under him, a John Mair. "Mair, would you please go meet our unexpected guest? I must attend to the final touches of the exterior armor." Alden began to put on a white space-suit, smaller than what humans had in the 1960's, but still bulky and slow moving. He then began to exit a space lock, several Aphid drones following him.
Mair nodded, before exiting the room, a troupe of bodyguards protecting him as he stepped quickly towards the airlock. Very quickly, he adjusted his metals, his hat, as his soldiers did the same. They knew who they were meeting and who would exit that airlock. They had to look their sharpest when they met their leader. As the doors opened, the man stood to the side of the door, his fist clenched upon where his heart is, like the rest of his soldiers. "It is a pleasant surprise, sir!" He said to Mordeci, "I will show you to Alden as soon as possible, sir!" |

| John Mair quickly led Mordeci back into the chamber where Alden stood, out of the space-suit, as pilots and other crewmen began to pour into a nearby airlock, and several Aphid Drones skittered out. "Mordeci Smith! Just the man I wanted to see! And on what better a timing! Come, we must show you around the ship, show you its power, and see if you want any... improvements."
Quickly, Alden led Mordeci onto the first Goliath Battleship. To start his tour, he brung the Grand Inquisitor to the back of the ship. "As you can see, our engines are above average for this mighty vessel. It needed much more of an oomph to move this hulking beast towards its enemies. But, have no fear, for the Goliath's engines can easily subvert it into an efficient faster-than-light speed."
Not seen but heard, the Goliath Battleship's mighty engines started on, sounding like a faint roar fading into a calm consistent growling hum. Slowly, the ship left the dock, turning slowly to avoid contact with any other dock or ship. It quietly roamed out into space. When it War far enough out, the Goliath switched on its Faster-Than-Light capabilities, sending it far into its course. Its destination was the jungle world of Thenna. There, Alden planned, the Goliath would show off its immense power as a single vessel through its glorious fire arms. |

| Mordeci would have been angered normally that Alden sent a lackey to greet him, but the man was likely working still, seeing as how he had arrived unannounced. He followed the man, John Mair, he said his name was. He nodded to the saluting troops, signalling that they could drop the salutes. "Very well, take me to him. We have much to discuss."
As he entered the ship with the young man, he spotted Alden. "A pleasure to see you Director. It seems my visit was right on time." He listened to Alden and they walked to the bridge, and was seriously impressed by the capability of light speed travel, and looked down to Thenna. "Begin your demonstration, Director." |

| "Alright," Alden began with a smile, overlooking a window that peered down upon the lucious jungles of Thenna, which seemed to grow slowly nearer," We are now entering the upper atmosphere of Thenna, the world that has, up to this point, retaliated the most against the claim of the world by the Reich. In this world's case, its those terrible arachnids that have taken refuge in the forests, picking off our ground troops with ease if they are not prepared for an assault."
A map slowly came into view. It was of a small portion of Thenna's surface, showing a large clearing with some buildings inside it. However, on the sale of the map, the area cleared was but a speck. "Scout forces and several fly overs have confirmed that here," Alden gestured to a point on the map, north of the camp, "Is a large nesting ground for the enemy forces. All attempts by ground have failed to even get close. Traditional air raid, too, have failed to break the nesting grounds. The only logical option would be orbital bombardment, shoot from where the spiders can't bite you back. However, we have not been able to because our cruisers, though strong, do not have the munitions to do so at a safe distance without possible damage to the ships by their own fire."
Another window slowly opened to reveal one of the Goliath's massive anti-capital ship cannons, larger than any other weapon used yet by the Reich. "This is why the Goliath was made. To do things our simple cruisers cannot without an entire supporting fleet; destroy all hope for an enemy's success. Captain," Director Wells ordered, "Ready all main cannons onto the given coordinates and fire. Let us weaken the resistance on Thenna, as well as impress the good Grand Inquisitor."
The captain nodded and ordered to his crew. Alarms began to blare across the ship, as the massive anti-capital ship cannons swerved slowly and loudly towards the planet, before lining up their shots to all hit at a very close perimeter if one another. Readied for the blast, the captain shouted "FIRE!" The entire ship buckled, as all ten cannons of the battleship fired, the sound of their mighty shots ringing like heavy thunder. Alden braced himself, before letting go of what he was bracing on. "Now, we must wait for ground forces to confirm the destruction of the nesting grounds. Though, I have little doubt that the nests are wiped from the face of Thenna ten times over." |

| In the jungles of Thenna, an attack scout team stealthily crept towards the alien nesting grounds, keeping low to the ground and silent in every way possible. The team halted, the leader of the scouts giving a firm hand signal, as the sky seemed to tear open, the sound of a thousand thunderclaps ripping through the air. A few seconds after that, the ground underneath them shook profusely, like an earthquake piled onto its aftershocks. As the rumbling halted, and the surrounding foliage began to slow in its swaying and breaking, the scout team continued for several minutes, until they came upon it.
The ground in front of the scout team was pummeled into the ground, some parts still crumbling into the massive crater. The charred corpses of the spider-like beasts were scattered around the scar in Thenna, their eggs completely gone, what wasn't was popping and burning. The leader of the team took out his transceiver, looking up at the blip in the sky that was the Goliath Battleship. His message rang throughout the entire ship. "This is Strike Team 4 calling in. Attacks were a success, I repeat, attacks were a success. The nests are gone. No trace remains that any large enemy force once was here."
The message being the crew of the ship to cheer and shout, as Alden turned back to Mordeci. "Now that, is what I like to call a good firing range. Any questions you'd like answered before we continue, my lord?" |
