((Griz))
The surgeons or whatever they were called had done an incredible job piecing his body back together after that fatefull day that had seen him almost lose his life. Besides saving his life they had given him added benifits in the cyber technology that he was now equipped with. It was hard to believe and yet every time he looked at his limbs he was reminded of the fact. He very much doubted his enhancements were state of the art for many of the various planets but for him they were extraordinary. He flexed his hand watching the metal move just as if it were flesh. The work was amazing. With it he'd been able to continue doing bomb disposal work something he had feared he would never be able to do again.
In addition to the nimbleness of his fingers he had been implanted with a bomb recognition snanner in his left arm that was tied directly into a growing database of bombs, bombers, and weapon manufacturers. Blue prints and bios for any could be pulled up at his leisure a very handy option for somebody whos life depended on knowing exactly what kind of device he was looking at. The individuals who had installed his cybernetics must have asked his unit for exactly what manner of tools they used as a panel in his left arm was able to open up revealing two shiny rows of new tools. The tools ranged from an ohm meter to a magic detecting device he had only seen once. The kit included of course the various small knives and wire cutters needed as well.
While the extras already mentioned would have, and did, make Griz extremely happy there was the added bonus of gaining extra strength from the cybernetics as well. As his torso was still flesh and bone primarily his shoulders could tire if he worked his arms too hard but doing so was infrequent.
The cybernetics in his legs were just as simple and refined as those in his arms. While they hadn't gone overboard in granting extra strength and speed they allowed movement identical to what it had been before losing his limbs. Compartments in his legs had been hollowed out for him to hold a trio of grenades in one leg and in the other a sidearm of his choice with three clips of ammunition. Simple, refined, elegant Griz was impressed but not as impressed as he was with his eye implant.
The eye implant hadn't been made to match his existing eye, matter of fact it was fairly guady. A ruby red pupil surrounded by black nothingness encased in a shell of metal, guady. Griz liked it nontheless feeling it made him stand out in a crowd. He liked it even more when he found the optic in the eye allowed for him to immedietly pull up the range of a given target, to zoom in on that target, and even to use clues from the landscape to determine windspeed and direction. As a grenadier the information was invaluable and something he would have killed to get his hands on earlier in his life.
The final enhancement had come in the form of artificial lungs. The thinkin had been it would be harder for him to die by gas inhalation if his lungs were not dependant upon pure air. The new lungs would function similar to a sophisticated gas mask filterering out anything larger than six parts per million. They wouldn't allow him to breathe freely in the vaccuum of space but they were damned better than the pierced lung he had before surgery!
