The First are a race of hyper-intelligent advanced species that, according to myth and legend, spanned the entire universe. Many other species, over time, mythologized them and they became the source of many myths and stories as well as the subject of admiration. The species was also given many other aliases such as "The Mystics", "The Pioneers" and "The Ancient".

What we don't know

Not much is known about The First as they are now a very enigmatic civilisation. The oldest stories suggest that they were there during the beginning of the universe, or at least near the very start of it. As such, the species is very old. Even the most ancient species that later populated the universe knew very little about them, with only a minority having any interaction with them of any kind. And even then, the interaction was very limited and stories based off those interactions faded or became distorted with time. Not even a description of their physical appearance is known. Today, only a small number of species know about them.

What we do know

However, one thing that is universally known is that their technological prowess was and still is unmatched by any other species. Some descriptions of their capabilities came from eye-witness testimonies billions of years ago. Descriptions include "being able to create matter out of nothing", "having the ability to trigger stellar detonation within seconds", "traveling between galaxies instantly", "the ability to cross the void between universes", and even some accounts of time travel.

History

Their homeworld and their current whereabouts are unknown. Some say that The First continue to roam the universe, silently protecting and watching over each galaxy. Others suggest they ascended to a higher form of existence, while it is also speculated that they left the universe altogether or died out. One of their notable involvements in the universe was the part they played in The Great War that took place during the Universe's early days. The war allegedly went on for millions of years and included The First, along with a plethora of subordinate ancient species as well as The Celestials spearheading the entire conflict against an unknown adversary.

It is speculated that The First became even more withdrawn after this war, which may explain their absence in the modern day. However, evidence of their civilisation remain through artifacts such as left over technologies that are rare in number. Those that have managed to acquire any have struggled to understand and reverse engineer these artifacts - instead opting to use them as decorative pieces or signs of wealth and status.
