Name: God-Snake (Stantibuscelsor Sorsimmanus)
Homeplanet: N/A
Sentience: Non-Sentient
Strengths
This species is large. By large, I mean several miles long (up to 18 miles!) and weigh hundreds of thousands of tons. This is due to the fact that their immense size is not halted by the hold of gravity.
God-Snakes are adept at holding their breath. With several pairs of specially adapted lungs, God-Snakes can slowly siphon oxygen from their lungs to slow their loss of air. These lungs can last up to several weeks at a time.
Somehow, deep inside the God-Snake's golden scaled wings, is an organ that somehow allows them to move at insane speeds (1/10 of the speed of light) for short periods of time, allowing them to move from planet to planet in a system, refilling their oxygen reserves for a long journey.
When they enter an atmosphere, the copper manes upon their backs will erupt into a static lightning, defending it from attacks from above.
As young, God-Snakes grow very quickly, usually attaining a mile in around 25 years.
Fully grown, the skeletal system of a God-Snake quickly begins to densen with metals, such as iron and tungsten.
Weaknesses
The God-Snakes are very few in population (with an estimated population of only 12 adults). These adults only breed once a decade, and only breed on a specific planet in the outer rim.
Not during mating season, God-Snakes are extremely aggressive and territorial, attacking any large vessels and other God-snakes, leading possibly to the devastating death of one or more adults.
God-Snakes are highly sought after by whalers and pirates for their blood, called by some as "Ichor" for the golden coloration caused by literal gold inside their blood instead of iron. They also seek their dense bones, infused with hardy metals such as light traces of tungsten and iron.
As God-Snakes reach their oldest points of around 800, their bones begin to weaken under the over-infusion of metals into the supporting calcium and marrow, slowing them down significantly.
Appearance
God-Snakes are massive reptilians, with thick scales and a set of giant, golden-scaled wings. Their heads are covered in ornate crests and have jaws filled with many sharp teeth. Their body scales are usually either a jade green, or a light purple. The God-Snake's tail ends in a large fluke, usually covered in red scales.
Culture
The God-Snakes have no culture, instead being highly territorial and attacking anything large that enters.
History
The Ancestors of God-Snakes have been found as fossilized evidence that dates back to around 8-20 million years ago, but is shrouded in mystery. These beasts are feared by most, especially traders with sublight-speed ships. These predators feed on the space whales known as Cetus, as well as feeding on asteroid fields for metals and minerals. When they require water and air, God-Snakes will descend into a planet's atmosphere, and take several days to drink as much water as it can before leaving the orbit.
In recent years, God-Snakes dwindle, with only around eight of the maximum twelve adults being around, and poachers killing their young, the future seems bleak for Stantibuscelsor.
