Name: Nagah
Homeplanet: Argatu
Sentience: Sentient
Strengths
Nagah each have three forms a serpent form, a human form, and a hybrid form.
Human form:
In human form nagah are indistinguishable from humans coming in a varitety of shapes, sizes, and skin colors.
Serpent form:
In serpent form nagah take on the form of one snake in particular. The only guarantee about this form is that the snake WILL be venomous.
Hybrid:
This is the monster form. the nagah transform into giant snake like creatures ranging from seven to ten feet tall. They possess two arms, hands and retain their mental facilities. Scales cover the entirety of the hybrid granting it an innate armor against both spells and weapons. This form has large poisonous fangs as well. The poison being the same as that of the nagah's serpent form.
Weaknesses
Nagah are a dying species and they know it. Because of this Nagah are forbidden to kill their own kind. Killing another Nagah is grounds for termination brought on by various deities. No escaping your fate, period.
One of the reasons Nagah are dying is because of their breeding cycle. Females are only fertile for one month out of the year. Gestation takes a full fourteen months for a single offspring to be born.
Yet another reason for the nagah's decline is the fear and paranoia their race instilled in other native races. They were hunted, enslaved, and nearly exterminated. Among the remaining native populations there is still massive fear and distrust of the nagah.
While in human form nagah are able to utilize weapons and armors as would any other human. Serpent form does not allow for weapons and / or weapons and hybrid forms vary so much that there are no armors made for the form.
Having lived in seclusion for hundreds of years nagah nagah are technologically impaired. While they will travel through space they are unable to grasp the mechanics involved in building, maintaining, of flying a space vessel. Modern technology is also a mystery to them requiring massive amounts of time spent learning to use it before they are able to grasp even the simplest of technologies.
Being a snake for all itents and purposes nagah are cold blooded relying on outside heat to regulate their body temperatures. In cold temperatures they are sluggish almost to the point of being unable to move. Ice weapons will likewise effect them.
Appearance
Human:
On average females stand around five feet five inches tall. Skin color ranges from albino to ebony and every shade inbetween. Males on average stand around five feet eight inches tall with the same skin colorations. Both have hair colors similar to human from blonde to dark black.
Serpent:
Any one of innumberable poisonous snakes throughout the galaxy. Typically non smaller than three feet in length though.
Hybrid:
Once again the range is fairly large 7-10 feet with the smaller side leaning towards woman and small men. In this form the bodies become covered in scalles the same coloration as their serpent form. Large arms, proportionate to the form, grow as to large poisonous fangs. A naga in this form does not have legs instead it slithers like a snake with the bottom third of its body.
Culture
Nagah are divided into two seperate cultures that are often at odds with one another. One sect follows the deity Gilispa who is a god of water, peace, and healing. The other follow the deity Azdra who is a god of stealth, deceit, and death. Not every nagah follows these religions but those that do are fully devoted and will do anything for their chosen deity.
For all of their differences nagah still make time to celebrate their way of life. Numerour rituals are held throughout the year celebrating fertility, the begining of adulthood, and the acceptance of nagah as priest and priestessess of their chosen deities.
Nagah who remain on Argatu live in forests and swamps in an attempt to hide from the encroaching civilizations. Most want no part of the strange ships and armies they see. They are inclined to flee farther and farther into the most remote areas fearing they will once again be hunted and slain. In the remote areas it is not uncommon for raiding parties to target small groups of nagah selling them into slavery in fields and mines.
History:
Once Nagah were masters over the planet Argatu but their pride and factious nature got the better of them. War broke out between the peacefull followers of Gilispa and the warlike followers of Azdra. The war raged for twenty years decimating the numbers of nagah on both sides. At this point seeing the nagah numbers depleted another even fiercer war began as the other denisons of Argatu banded together in an attempt to overthrow the nagah. The war raged for ten long years before the nagah gave up and retreated into forests and swamps. It was at this time that the Pact of Raamus was established making it illegal for one nagah to kill another under any circumstance. The penalty for the action was immediate death, struck down by one of the deities. It was also at this time that for the first time nagah found themselves being hunted and enslaved. They have faced this demon slavery for the last four hundred years in one way or another.
