As Lineak neared the town he could feel an invisible weight drop on his shoulders strong, dark, manevelont, evil. He couldn't put his finger on his misgivings and in the end he shoved them to the side. The small town had a single street lined with store fronts that made Lineak grin. Paps's General Store sat right next to Annie's Baked Goods, across from them both sat Untamed Wilds Saloon and Casino. A barber shop and a mechanic's garage rounded out the entire list of stores in town. Well, he'd wanted remote. He decided he'd try the bakery first and see if there was anybody that could tell him anything there.
There wasn't even an attempt at fighting the effects of saltwater on the paint he could tell. If the building had ever had paint to begin with. He pushed open the rotting door and looked aruond. An old lady sat behind the single counter with crochet hooks in hand. She stared at him as she furiously crocheted something. "Well? What is it your after?" To be quite honest Lineak wasn't sure he was after anything more than information. "I'd like to know about the area if I could trouble you for some of your time." The woman's response was swift and certain. "If you're not buying you're leaving. Good day." The werewolf tried to think of something to say before turning his back and exiting. So much for Annie's.
The saloon might be the place to try next he decided. The outside was just in need of repair as Annie's had been. However, as soon as he walked inside he was greeted by fresh paint, the smell of fresh game and booze, and the sound of dice. A small crowd of people gathered around a bar while others hunched over various gaming apparatus. Lineak mentally tallied the numbers gathered and tried to picture this tiny town with twenty residents all in the saloon together. Adding to the strangeness it appeared as if everyone in the saloon was in their mid to late twenties.
Alarm bells began going off inside the werewolf's mind but he was unsure what exactly they meant. sure something was going on the town, but what and or why? He really didn't want to know. He was in the area for one purpose to get out into the woods and that was that. He approached the bar and nodded to the barkeep.
"Hey I'm new here just passing through. What can you tell me about this place?"
"Only that you're going to want to leave and do it now. It's not safe for anyone here. Go on get."
The warm reception from the two people cemented Lineak's resolve. He wasn't going to stick around for any longer. There were woods out there calling his name and he was going to go back to the basics. Do what he had been born doing. It was time for some hunting and trapping in the wild. He couldn't wait to escape this last little bastion of civilization.
