| The immortals needed to take more space if they wanted to become respected... Anthir looked desirable to the immortals, and so they sent a squad under the lead of Tower himself to set up a garrison on the planet...a viral was sent around to drop him off on the planet along with a small mobile base he could easily set up.
two days earlier... there was a notice hanging up in apex 122, asking recruits or anyone really to sign up for a mission with tower to expand immortal grounds. there were several names on already such as "crimson, blaze" and "roothearth Sylvia" |

| Lineak scrubbed the last of the orc's blood off of his dagger before turning his attention to first wiping and then scubbing his body clean. The big bastard had it coming picking a fight with his scawny human form for no reason other than a spilled glass of some bubbling substance. What was in the glass Lineak still didn't know, really didn't care anymore. The fact that it had grown into an all out bar brawl and then from there into him having to kill the poor sod, that he cared about.
Halfway through scrubbing his face clean his com went off alerting him to a new mission. Just what he needed more blood to replace the blood he was washing off. It paid the bills though and it helped him travel from planet to planet exploring new, er ancient, places that he'd never dreamed existed before. Some were fascinating and unevntfull most seemed to be death traps but he still managed to escape them most times with something worthwile. The idea of a simple farmer not so long ago setting out on these strange and dangerouns adventures was still ludicrous to him.
He tapped the com looking for instructions and growled out his frustations when he was teleported into a recruitment office. Damn technology anyhow! |

| lineak spawned in the briefing room, right between the ever 'lovely' keya and sylvia and some other immortal troops, in the front of the room the leader of the immortals, tower stood giving a briefing of the mission. "ladies and gentlemen, thanks you could be here, as you know we recently grew in size so we need a new place to train our troups as apex and imm'enne are full and jeslore is not open for our troops and wants to be preserved. Scans suggest that there are other lifeforms out there, wich is why we're bringing along plenty of troops to set up the new garrison."
He used a remote control to open a door to the hangar where a Viral ship was being loaded to depart to Anthir. "now, if no one has any questions you can go collect your weapons and we can depart to anthir to defend our builders." |

| Landing between the two wasn't exactly a bad thing although doing so Lineak was concious of the blood still staining his arms and chest. No time to wash it was time to get going. With a sigh of resignation he began walking towards the ship. Perhaps he'd have time to wash up on board. He wouldn't count on it though. A thought came to him and he turned back towards the briefing.
"What is this particular planet like? You didn't mention needing oxygen so I'm guessing we're free to breath without it, but what is the terrain like? I'd like to have a rough idea of what I'm getting myself into trying to protect these guys if I can."
The enviroment could be anything from a half built suburbia to the inside of a volcano. Knowing what to expect could be the difference betwee many living or dying out there.
"Oh, and what's the threat we're expecting?"
He was becoming more and more needy in his old age. The thought brought a chuckle, old indeed. Facing a new threat every other day was enough to age anybody. |

| "we have no idea, it does not look very civilized from here however, but before we send our pathfinders down there we'll run a few scans, we have plenty of airmasks aboard so dont worry about not being able to breathe, we'll stay aboard the viral for a few days before establishing the base, all you really need to do now is grab what you want along and return before an hour ends, that's when we depart." the tall knight says before leaving the briefing room and entering the massive viral ship.
the two elves leave the room after him and enter the ship as well, followed by a crowd of immortal troops, all armed and armored to the teeth. however the tall knight seemed to wait at the door of the ship to check in all the assigned soldiers. |

| An hour wasn't long but it was long enough for the werewolf to get a few things done. He quickly took off towards the barracks. He didn't care if he was going to have to barge into one hoping nobody was there. Thankfully one of the Immortals saw him coming and invited him to wash the blood and gore off of himself. That task completed he took a few minutes to shave both head and face. There was no telling when he was going to be able to do either one of those again.
He checked his weapons and ammuntion to make sure all were present and accounted for before throwing a credit chip towards the owner of the shower. He wasn't sure how much was on the card but it didn't matter. The Immortals took care of most, if not all, or his needs. The fact that they paid him in addition was still a strange concept. Securing his equipment in place he hurried back towards the ship.
His mind replayed what he had heard from the briefing. Unknown threat(s) check. Unknown terrain check. He wasn't entirely sure what all was involved in buildng a base but he knew it was going to be labor intensive. So there were going to be an awful lot of peeps to protect. There were going to be some rough sleeping quarters as well. He shrugged his shoulders at that thought he was getting soft if not sleeping on a bed was one of his concerns. The climate could be a concern though. He made a mental note to see what the weather on the planet was before descending to the surface.
The ship rose up in front of him and Lineak felt something tug at him. For somebody who hated tech in all forms he sure had found these ships to be useful. Pushing the thought to the side he put one foot in front of the other and began boarding. |

| after a few hours the viral reached anthir and scans were run to determine the climate and such on the planet, this process took about 15 minutes for the entire planet. after a while, the immortal troops were called to the dropping area where tower once again stood, this time accompanied by his best friend blaze who had a somewhat similar armor, though it was red and flatter than tower's as well as spikier and it had a more japanese feel to it.
"gentlemen, this is it now we are going into the orbit and install our new base on the face of anthir, the deployment order goes like that. pathfinders go first, you shall be backed up by the new generation and knights, then bacteria shall be deployed, then the lovers and finally the guardians. there are hostile lifeforms on the planet of semi sentient intelligence, so expect instant ressistance, after we have secured a place the builders shall be sent down adn then we shall find a place easier to defend automatically."
the troops around lineak all configured into groups, pathfinders joined up with eachother, Sylvia joined the combat medics the lovers and keya made her way to the new generation troopers, they all wandered to teleporters and were sent down to the orbit to secure place for the outpost. |

| The teleporter was something new to Lineak and he wasn't quite sure he liked it. One moment he was on the ship and the next his feet were on the surface of a new planet. It was just like the com on his wrist though, not that he could ever get the thing to work right. He looked around at the other pathfinders down on the surface with him all were doing as they should. Set up a defensive perimeter for starters and then small units were venturing out in teams to scout the surrounding area.
Lineak nodded agreement as one of the Immortal Pathfinders motioned for him to come along with him. The two began conversing in hushed tones as they surveyed the terrain. It was decided trees would have to come down at least five hundred yards in every direction from what would be the outside base of the walls. The unobscured view would help the Immortals see an approaching enemy well before they reached the base.
The Pathfinders were not, and are not, engineers. Taking down trees was not their objective and as such they continued with what was their responsibility. In Lineak's case he was tasked with finding exactly what, if anything, was living in a circle extending five hundred yards in every direction. It was a mission he looked forward to one where he could put his considerable skills to good use.
The vegetation was different than he was used to but a forest is a forest. He kept is eyes and ears open as he took in the wide variety of insects in area. The wide variety of insects made him pause for a moment. Insects were a prey food even if they were also predators. Birds ate insects and there was a distinct lack of bird calls at the moment. Truth be told he hadn't heard a single bird since landing on the planet. His eyes narrowd something wasn't right. |

| the teleporter took the pathfinders and lineak right into the action, soon however the leader, tower was at the frontline with his shield raised in the open field the enemy showed itself, they looked alot like black bears except much larger and evidently more violent as they charged at the immortal troops and began gnawing at them, though fortunatly they did not posses any added endurance so they were felled easily, unfortunatly they were the apparent dominant species on this planet and were large in numbers. |

| While in the woods Lineak could hear the sounds of combat coming from behind. Wanting to join in the fracas he resisted the urge. His mission would come first. If the foe was entrenched in the woods somewhere nearby the Immortals needed to know about it. Discerning where the enemy was wasn't difficult they didn't appear to have any type of training covering their tracks, or they didn't care. Huge trails were cut out of the forest and the plants nearby trampled into the ground. Lineak chose one of the trails to follow and along the way saw markings along numerous trees that looked like bear markings.
He wanted to take a minute to study oneof the markings to be sure when a roar came from behind him. He turned to face the roar finding himself face to face with a terrifying view. What looked like an enormous bear stood less than six inches away. Mouth agape it roared down at him. The bear creature's saliva dripped down splashing against the werewolf's cheek. With a casual flip of his hand he wipedd the saliva away before transforming to werewolf and ramming a claw through the bottom of the creature's jaw. Oddly there wasn't much sound as the claw rammed through soft flesh on its way to and through skull and then into the brain. The creature disposed of Lineak changed back to human form and began to study it. You had to know your enemy after all. |

| the beast was very similar to bears actually, just much taller and there snouts were thinner and buffer, though the beast was disposed of easily they made up for it in numbers, lots of numbers as there were at least 4 roars similar nearby lineak, but at this point the immortal power offense had marched into the woods and their gunfire and electrical discharge was in earshot, after a while the group of heavy attackers came by, sylvia stood up on the group and waved at lineak and the other pathfinders, beckoning them to join the offense. |

| Lineak saw the wave directed at him and the others and waved back before making his way back towards the rest of the Immortals. He wasn't sure how far they were planning on pushing out into the forrest but so far it didn't look as though there was much of a threat from any source. Sure the bear creatures had numbers, but a forest environment could only hold so many apex predators. It only had so much prey for them to hunt. With this many dead he wondered how many more there could possibly be. It wasn't his job to make guesses or ask questions though. Right now his mission was combat. He breathed out one, twice and got back to the grim task of delivering death. |

| the offensive went further, they plowed through much more of these creatures and they came to another open place, tower stood up and pointed to a mountainous area. "ladies and gentlemen, that mountain over there! that is where we shall establish our base of operations on anthir, but we shall set up our temporary camp here for now, any volunteers for the first guard shift next to me?" tower asks as the engineers make some sort of building with steel plates, they looked like small bungalows building themselves with iron plates and lighting already placed inside, alot of soldiers had these kits and went inside them. |

| The conversation in Lineak's mind raged on and on. First watch was such a desirable thing for a soldier, for anyone that had to perform guard duty really. It meant hours of uninterrupted sleep after the watch was complete. What was less than desirable was having guard duty with one of your superiors. Lineak hadn't spent any time around Tower but knew his reputation. Being on guard duty could either be a great experience or one of epic horridness. The pros and cons still battling inside of his mind he felt himself raising a hand to volunteer.
"Sir, I'll take first watch with you." |

| tower grinned hearing a few volunteers, lineak wasnt alone though, sylvia and blaze were also first up as the rest kept their hand lowered, it mostly ended up with tower and blaze going through bad memes on thier lifeline devices and sylvia getting obviously sleepy. For the rest not much happened for the rest of the evening, though enough bears get killed by the automated defenses. |

| A few short hours of guard duty and Lineak was ready to hit the sack. The small structures that had sprung up all over would offer protection from the elements but the weather looked, and felt, good. The cool night air and the work from throughout the day would quickly send him off to sleep he knew all he needed was a semi-comfortable place to lay his head. One of the structures actually suited his needs just fine. With a sigh he sat against it and stared up into the sky for a few brief moments before letting sleep overtake him.
Throughout the night the automated weapon systems were up and down taking out the occasional bear. And throghout the night Lineak woke, recognized what the sound was, and then tried to go bazck to sleep when the weapons were silenced. This was something far different than he was used to. He woke up groggy and grumpy in the morning from the rough night's sleep but it looked like there was going to be a push to make it to the mountain. That meant more time in the woods. That was something to be excited about, at least for a hunter.
He made his way towards where hot rations were being served another novelty for him. While the meal was far from the best thing he had eaten it was hot and it was real food. A cup of coffee chased down the food and he could have almost died happy as he drank it down. Finally a decent cup of coffee. It was strong, strong enough to hold a spoon upright in it. Perfection. He'd heard about military coffee before but had never believed it. It looked like farming and being in the military had one thing in common after all...strong coffee. Breakfast complete he began looking for the rest of the pathfinders eager to see what their mission would be for the day ahead. |

| The next morning the temporary base was being packed up and tower could be seen carrying sylvia around as she refused to come out of her sleeping bag. meanwhile the yellow helmets of the immortal engineers and builders were seen running around the campsite, busy tearing down the tiny buildings serving as sleeping quarters, soldiers were putting on their armor and loading their weapons again as the mission to find a safe spot to set up base continued.
The walk went on as the immortals marched over anthir, eventually they had to choose between passing through a cave or a mountain pass, naturally they chose the cave and delved into the depths, with the lights from the many guns and the many spotlights light up the cave it was revealed they were not alone in there, spiders, easily the size of those former bears jumped down from the ceiling onto the armed soldiers. |

| There was a special place in Lineak's heart for spiders after all they were masters of the trapping arts. As the spiders launched themselves from the top of the cave that special place grew even bigger. They wre incredible masters of stealth, toxins, and traps ideal killing machines after all. How could a hunter and trapper not appreciate the absolute beauty of their deadliness. Massive jaws barely missing his exposed flesh soon broke his reverie. True spiders were a thing of beauty but only when they weren't trying to kill you.
A claw through one of the spider's many eyes dispatched the creature attempting to slay him. Then Lineak turned his attention to the cave floor. For the spiders to be launching themselves from above meant there was probably an even bigger threat from below. Or, there were a substantial number of traps in place for the soldiers to have to deal with. Size for size spider silk was stronger than steel and he didn't relish wading into a spider web that one of these giant spiders had created. Another spider leapt down towards him and the hunter dispatched this one by disembowling it midflight cursing as a shower of green blood rained down ower him. Just another typical day for the Immortals? |

| The immortals marched through the cave, slaughtering the many spiders launching themselves from the ceiling, obviously met with superiour firepower the immortals easily dealt with the arthropod thread, with guns blazing they eventually made their way up the cave and with the use of some explosives, they ended up on top of a building and this was the final stretch for the mission. And now it was finally time for the engineers to get to work.
Soon enough the builders have created the automated defenses, closed the gap and crafted the building and soon enough it was done, with this outpost created a slow but sure offense to take the whole planet wich soon would be under immortal control. |
