LifeEater Torpedoes: The Golden Echelon carried only 10 of these experimental weapons, and is the main cause of shielding errors - hence shielding was removed from the ship altogether. LifeEater torpedoes are small torpedoes that are fired at enemy ships at enough velocity that they penetrate the hull - LifeEater Torpedoes are equipped with armor piercing tips in order to aid in penetration. Once penetrated, the torpedo releases the LifeEater plague that will rapidly spread around the ship through whatever means necessary. After a brief gestation period, the plague will rapidly break organic bonds - causing organic matter to fall apart. Essentially, anything that's alive inside the ship will die a slow horrible death. However, the plague only travels as far as 40 meters from the original torpedo and rapidly deteriorates as it goes beyond that point. Also, the virus is unable to survive in a vacuum, and any place with temperatures lower than 0 degrees celsius.
Heavily Armored Hulls: Using copious amounts of Mithril and Adamantium, the ships' 5m thick hulls were created as a way to compensate for the lack of active shielding.
Description:
The Golden Echelon was designed to be an assault ship, capable of untold levels of destruction at the cost of speed and shielding. Each side of the ship contains a hundred gun turrets and torpedo launchers, while the underside contains the release for the Blackstar Torpedoes. Most of the weapons are fully automated save for the Blackstar Torpedoes. It has a crew of 200, with only 10 of those being organics - the rest are fully mechanized warriors and engineers to work unceasingly, the organics are all part of the immediate command center in the ship's bridge. The ship, if destroyed, will automatically trigger the detonation of every Blackstar Torpedo it has in storage.
